As VP of Product in the Hardware Tribe, you’ll lead the way in building and strengthening one of SumUp’s core pillars. You’ll oversee every stage of the product management lifecycle – from ideation and design to manufacturing and launch. You’ll also define how your teams grow and how we scale our ability to create new products from scratch.  SumUp’s global footprint continues to grow rapidly. Our hardware products are owned by over 2 million merchants and thus used every day by millions upon millions of consumers.  In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to take SumUp’s hardware portfolio and brand recognition to the next level.

We are hiring a VP Product, Hardware to enable us to build upon the successes we achieved while helping us to strengthen our product development culture, capabilities and the team. Being part of the global Product leadership team, this person will also contribute to SumUp’s overall strategic planning to support its future growth.

This role is a high impact, critical position that will challenge you to work at a quick pace and tackle a wide variety of topics and opportunities on a global scale. You will use your strategic thinking and original mindset, as well as immense drive, to help strategize and innovate within the team that is responsible for SumUp’s Hardware product function as part of a fast paced and rapidly scaling organization. What you’ll do

  • Shape and execute a unified Product vision and strategy for Hardware and drive the Hardware product roadmap: You turn product vision and strategy into well-articulated product requirements, using qualitative and quantitative data effectively to inform product direction and prioritization and deliver a consistent, world class experience for our merchants around the world. 
  • Help define the broader business strategy together with the Hardware tribe leadership, coach the tribe leadership on Product Management and challenge their decisions from a Product perspective.
  • Lead and mentor world-class Product teams: Attract, coach and develop Product Managers across all markets and be an authority alongside already very experienced team members. You will regularly assess the technical state of teams and promote best in class Product Management practices.
  • Partner effectively with internal stakeholders in Product and Market functions across the organisation and manage relationships with key external stakeholders.

You’ll be great for this role if 

  • You have a proven track record of leading highly effective Product teams through periods of rapid growth with a strong focus on delivery in fast-paced, interconnected, multi-product companies and distributed or service-based systems.
  • You’ve mastered different leadership styles and use situational awareness to keep your team moving forward in even the most complex situations.
  • You have effective communication skills enabling you to guide cross-functional, globally distributed teams. 
  • You know how to achieve success and buy in through influence, collaborating with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • You strive to build a culture of customer centricity and a strong Product mindset based on strong cooperation and innovation.
  • You have a deep understanding of the product development lifecycle and best practices for effective Product Management and can advocate for them both in the tribe and the broader organisation.
  • You’re an innovative thinker, able to quickly recognise opportunities and apply your expertise to deliver solutions that support outstanding customer experiences.
  • Ideally, you have a deep understanding of the FinTech and/ or Hardware domain and of the challenges faced by SumUp’s merchants.
