HoneyBook is the leading business and financial management platform for independent small businesses. By combining tools like billing, contracts and client communication, HoneyBook helps business owners get organized so they can provide top-tier service at every step. HoneyBook is trusted by independent businesses across the U.S. and Canada who have booked more than $7B in business on our platform. Every day at HoneyBook we are on a mission to empower the independent economy to rise together, doing what they love.

Our award-winning culture is built on core values that drive everything we do, including putting people first. We know experience comes in many different forms, some visible on your resume, others not. No one candidate will be a 100% perfect match to our description, so if you thrive in a fast-paced, intellectually-charged environment and have similar experience to what we are looking for, we encourage you to apply.

We’re looking for a UX researcher who is passionate about being the voice of our users, and is excited to play a large role in informing design decisions, product strategies, and identifying new opportunities through both qualitative and quantitative research. We believe that research findings are most powerful when they break the boundaries of written reports, and are actively applied and used by product teams. Researchers partner with product managers, designers, engineers, marketers and customer success professionals to better understand the needs and challenges of HoneyBook users both on and off the platform.  Our researchers improve the product experience for not only our members, but for their clients as well.

Our research team is close-knit, collaborative, and supportive. We each bring unique strengths and interests to the group, and encourage each other to grow in our craft every day.

Here are a few of the things you will do:

  • Plan, design, and conduct research projects. Effectively undertake associated tasks such as participant recruitment and scheduling, producing test materials, setting up test environments, analyzing data, and delivering findings
  • Analyze and synthesize research data to accurately represent participants’ perspectives and experiences
  • Report and present research processes, research findings, and actionable design implications for various audiences in ways that are engaging and relevant
  • Actively contribute to UX research processes, documentation, and repositories; help maintain and promote the participant database
  • Lead user research initiatives, understand users attitudes & behaviors, and identify their problems with a capability to uncover unspoken user needs
  • Collaborate with design, product, marketing, analytics, support and customer success teams to influence product design and innovation

Here is what is needed:

  • A deep understanding of research methods, when to use them, and how to apply them. This may include, but is not limited to usability testing, user interviews, surveys, card sorts, tree testing, journey mapping and competitor analysis
  • Experience in synthesizing and communicating findings to cross-functional teams operating in a fast-paced environment
  • The ability to clearly define and passionately advocate for HoneyBook members’ needs and translate user insights into actionable product recommendations
  • Knowledge of product creation cycle and design process; as well as experience collaborating with Design and Product teams
  • A passion for learning and promoting new methods to team members
  • Problem-solving skills and proven experience in synthesizing and communicating findings to cross-functional teams
  • Strong written, visual and verbal storytelling and communication skills that allow you to illustrate and share study plans, findings and insights creatively and persuasively
  • Work samples showing how you have executed qualitative and quantitative user research methods, and demonstrating the impact of your research on the customer or user experience
  • The ability to think strategically and solve problems
  • The flexibility to meet remotely with teammates and customers in different time zones, and occasionally travel to meet them in person
  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative end-to-end UX research projects
  • University degree in interaction design, psychology, human factors or a related subject area is a plus

The good stuff:

  • Mission driven. You'll be joining more than just another startup—our members are at the heart of everything we do; in fact, we invite them to co-work in our office and collaborate with us on the product itself.
  • Impact. We move quickly and encourage every employee to push the envelope. Our best ideas come from out-of-the-box-thinking and innovation; be ready to fail fast and often!
  • Compensation: We offer a competitive salary + meaningful equity based on merit.
  • Benefits + Perks: From wellness programs to open paid time off and exceptional family leave policies, the health and happiness of our employees is foremost.
  • Provisions:  We give you the tools you need to get your job done and we provide a fully stocked kitchen and bar, happy hours, catered meals, and awesome company events.
