Job Description

We keep thousands of people focused, coordinated and moving as fast as possible so Shopify combines the impact of giants with the speed of a startup. 

In this role, you will be supporting all of Product Operations within Merchant Services as well as lead Product Operations within Marketplaces.In Merchant Services, our focus is building first party services where there is broad demand within our merchant base and help drive substantial growth up-funnel from Shopify, e.g. financial services, communication products, and retail solutions for SMBs.

Marketplaces is one of the six product areas that sits under Merchant Services whose mission is to to help merchants sell on all marketplaces so they love Shopify and use it by default for all their projects. This product area focuses on enabling the platform and tools for merchants to sell on different channels seamlessly.

You’d be doing things like:

  • Leading and managing a high performing Product Operations team that spans across all of Merchant Services 

  • Develop a deep understanding of how teams work and what’s in their way, to solve bottlenecks, streamline communication, and help us focus and move faster to make merchants successful

  • Building systems for constant alignment, accountability and feedback, and driving their rhythm

  • Structuring and facilitating product planning activities and provide visibility to key stakeholders to drive alignment

  • Provide strategic and proactive insights on critical areas of the org that needs attention due to high risks and perceived challenges

  • Understanding blinds spots, identifying and escalating risks across dozens of projects to Product Leadership

  • Building a culture of transparency, where we share issues openly and celebrate successes together

  • Defining and optimizing shared practices, while understanding when and how to customize for a specific context or let teams diverge 

  • Build and develop relationships with executive level leadership to improve efficiency, effectiveness and escalate areas of opportunities/risks to Product Leaderships and beyond

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has rich experience in Operations Management at the Product level

  • Have managed, mentored and lead people and teams across an organization

  • Has experience partnering with executive leadership to help drive strategic initiatives forward

  • Has experience with and is comfortable liaising with external partners/vendors

  • Is seasoned in cross functional stakeholder management - you can identify and establish when to bring the right teams and people together to focus on the right content in a fast-paced environment

  • Is able to prioritize and juggle multiple priorities, proven at getting things done in a fast-paced dynamic & growing environment

  • Is proficient with a diverse set of business suites and tools and is comfortable working with data and sharing insights to help stakeholders make data driven decisions. Working knowledge of SQL is a plus

  • Has experience in designing minimum viable process, think in systems while rolling up their sleeves and get things done

  • Can create order out of chaos by asking tough questions and communicating clearly

  • Thrives working in a digital by design environment
