Senior Product Manager, Point A

Full-timeSenior Product Manager$147,100-$204,600*
Austin, United States
Please let Atlassian know you found this offer on WeLoveProduct as a way to support us 🫶
Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity, assuming candidates have eligible working rights and a sufficient timezone overlap with their team. As our offices re-open, Atlassians can choose to work remotely or return to an office, unless it’s necessary for the role to be performed in the office. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.

Atlassian is looking for a Senior Product Manager to take Point A to the next level. Point A is the program that enables new businesses at Atlassian and helps discover the future of work.

Point A includes:
* The program that operationalizes building new products at Atlassian and manages this portfolio.
* The methodology and knowledge that enables building new businesses, so we can be better at it in the long run (includes the New Product Framework, Pirate Manual, and internal and external innovation brand).

The Senior Product Manager for Point A will help drive the framework used to build new products, join the ‘portfolio management’ team for the new product portfolio, advise the early stage product teams, and provide operating support for new products. You’ll drive growing Point A by iterating the design of the program and building a more scalable approach - ‘productizing how we build new products'. You’re building a product whose customers are the entrepreneurial teams founding new products, Atlassian’s executive team, and ultimately our actual customers.

You’ll be instrumental in framing strategy and goals, and crafting a program to build phenomenal products and businesses with sustainable long term revenue growth. You’ll support the Point A Product founders and teams and work as part of the Point A Program leadership team to make good decisions, run projects from from go to whoa and work across the company to streamline and scale our new product ‘infrastructure’.

Ideally you can operate independently and proactively, you’re organized and adaptable, and can comfortably shift from analyzing the detail to communicating the exec-level view. You’re confident with strategy and strategic frameworks, product management craft, light technical detail, understanding product and financial performance and executive communications. This role is an individual contributor role, but over time there is scope to expand into management as well.

If you’re looking to make a huge impact, partner with outstanding talent, and the Atlassian values resonate with you, we’d love you on our team.

In this role, you will:

  • Take the Point A Program from a ‘scrappy startup' to a ‘scalable business’ by iterating on the design and and vastly up-levelling the delivery and structure of the program. You’ll partner with the Point A leadership squad (Product, Engineering, Design, Program Management, Analytics and Strategy and BizOps) to make key decisions that enable Atlassian to build – and iterate on – a repeatable framework for building new products.
  • Refine the long-term strategy and define appropriate goals and OKRs to track progress. Support with tracking these goals and OKRs over time.
  • Support new ventures along the full investment cycle, from refining executive pitches to validating market opportunities to building strategy and launching the product.
  • Deliver “ways of working” to others - similar to Agile Manifesto, this starts with the way we want new products to operate and then delivers that via different supporting methods.
  • Implement change by working closely with cross-functional partners across Platform, Research and Insights, Marketing, Sales, and Finance.
  • Build the internal and external community and process around Atlassian’s way of building new products.

On your first day we'll expect you to:

  • Have experience in building new tech products & businesses at scale. This could be from other tech firms, VC or consulting. You’ll also need a deep understanding of Enterprise Software and SaaS/subscription business models.
  • Have very strong structured problems solving and communication skills, and be ready to ‘own the product’ that is Point A. This will include significant content creation and communication to the users of the product (ie team starting new products).
  • Operate in very cross-functional, often ambiguous environments with some support.
  • Demonstrate humility and an openness to learning. Ability to build empathy with internal customers (PMs) to understand the pain points and co-create solutions.
  • Drive projects from idea to analysis, recommendation and (at times) to implementation.
  • Contribute to senior-level decision making with support, including articulately presenting and debating recommendations.
  • Love building new things, knowing that only some will actually work, and be excited to learn from the ones that didn’t.
More about our Team

Product Management at Atlassian is responsible for the complete product offering, from early stage research and ideation, through implementation and iteration based on key success metrics. We're dedicated to agile methodology and are believers in 'lean', which means we despise documentation for documentations sake. We are deeply self-driven and do our very best at all times to validate assumptions about our users with various types of testing. We are not looking for product managers who just want to concentrate on one area, such as user research or visual design – we need you to be eager to deliver across the entirety of the product development lifecycle. We keen for you to bring experience that you can impart on the rest of us but also have to be interested to improve in many other skills, and be driven to constantly learn and improve.

More about our benefits

Whether you work in an office or a distributed team, Atlassian is highly collaborative and yes, fun! To support you at work (and play) we offer some fantastic perks: ample time off to relax and recharge, flexible working options, five paid volunteer days a year for your favourite cause, an annual allowance to support your learning & growth, unique ShipIt days, a company paid trip after five years and lots more.
