What’s the role?

The Payments team at Etsy is committed to crafting and maintaining a resilient, streamlined and scalable payments platform for buyers, sellers and Etsy globally.  Available in 45 countries, Etsy Payments enables buyers and sellers to transact in 21 currencies and offers a number of different methods to pay for items on our site.

As a Senior Product Designer on this team you will craft a payment experience that connects the journey of our marketplace's payments activity across teams and is aligned with regulatory obligations. We will look to you to streamline the structure of these experiences, enabling us to draw insights and empower sellers to focus on their craft and their business, and buyers to purchase that unique one of a kind something on Etsy!

We are looking for someone who can work closely with a team of cross-functional partners in product management, engineering, research and analytics. We will look to you to set design strategy and priorities and collaborate with Payments designers across teams to help unify the work.

This is a full-time position reporting to a Senior Product Design manager. For this role, we are considering candidates based in Ireland who are either remote, flex, or office-based. Join a team focused on and passionate about improving the Payments experience! There will be collaboration with cross-functional product partners in engineering, research, analytics, and product management. You’ll be setting design strategy and priorities and running experiments to optimize the payments at Etsy. Together you deliver solutions to challenging problems and get feedback directly from customers.

What does the day-to-day look like?

• Discovering insights, opportunities, and requirements
• Testing prototypes and hypotheses with users to collect feedback
• Launching experiments and evaluating how they perform and how to iterate
• Sharing your work to peers and leadership, asynchronous and in-person
• Taking part in weekly design critiques, workshops, all hands and squad meetings
• Thinking and writing about your process and documenting your decisions
• Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law

Senior Product Designer at Etsy means:

• Run independently or give direction to designers within your team
• Can lead workshops and effectively align the group around a vision and approach
• Have a track record of crafting sophisticated flows and customer journeys
• Can think and design at a system level, not just interface elements or pages
• Regularly make use of your soft skills: listening, collaborating, decision-making
• Spend time providing mentorship to other designers
