What’s the role?
We’re looking for an experienced Product Designer who is passionate about small business owners and is driven to give them the best tools and resources to grow their businesses on Etsy. The Seller Performance team is dedicated to making Etsy the best place for our sellers to be successful while doing what they love. You’ll join a squad currently focused on helping sellers bring buyers back to their shop for repeat purchases. We succeed when we empower sellers with tools that increase the likelihood that a buyer who made a purchase from them returns again.
You will define and craft solutions that show sellers opportunities for growth, developing features and experiments that help them activate their buyers and keep them coming back for more. You’ll explore everything from experiments to increase tool adoption to creating a vision for how sellers and buyers engage over the long term. Our team needs a flexible designer who’s motivated to drive growth through experimentation and iteration, can be generative with ideas, and look holistically across the customer experience.
This is a full-time position reporting to the Sr. Manager, Product Design. For this role, we are considering candidates based in Mexico City who are either remote, flex, or office-based. What is Product Design like at Etsy?
Typically, product designers at Etsy work in a squad with a product manager, 3-5 engineers, researcher and analyst. Together they drive their own part of Etsy, deliver solutions to ambitious problems and get feedback directly from customers.
What does the day-to-day look like?
Discovering insights, opportunities, and requirements
Testing prototypes and hypotheses with users to collect feedback
Launching experiments and evaluating how they perform and how to iterate
Sharing your work to peers and leadership, async and in-person
Taking part in weekly design critiques, workshops, all hands and squad meetings
Thinking and writing about your process and documenting your decisions
Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.
Qualifications
What the Senior Product Design level at Etsy means:
Run independently or give direction to designers within your team
Can lead workshops and effectively align the group around a vision and approach
Have a track record of crafting sophisticated flows and customer journeys
Can think and design at a system level, not just interface elements or pages
Regularly make use of your soft skills: listening, collaborating, decision-making
Spend time providing mentorship to other designers
Play a key part in hiring, onboarding, and improving our team’s culture and engagement
Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
