As Senior Product Designer on our Growth team you will be working on a brand new squad focusing on growing user engagement while building defensible distribution channels. You will be researching, experimenting, and launching new experiences to increase member activation while also experimenting with both new and existing member distribution channels. You will partner closely with your engineering & product management counterparts on your team and co-own the value (will members use/buy it) and viability (does this align with our strategy) of your work. You will also be a part of our larger design team: a stellar group of designers who will support you on this journey.

  • This lean, cross-functional team will have several areas of expertise:
  • Acquisition — attract most relevant users
  • Retention — engage and empower new users
  • Monetization — help users choose and purchase a paid plan to fit their needs
  • Community Platforms — build an ecosystem with user-generated content and more.
  • Defensible Distribution Channels — What do we mean by these terms?
  • Defensible: Something that cannot be easily replicated by competitors.
  • Distribution channel: A way for people to encounter our product offerings. Distribution is about helping new people find our existing products and helping our existing audience find our new products.

In the short term, you will:

  • As a senior on our Product Design team, you will contribute to our design process, culture, principles, and maintain and raise the bar of design quality.
  • Participate in Continuous Discovery Habits; leading discovery & interviews with members to understand opportunities (desires, painpoints, wants) & their “jobs to be done” (what progress are they trying to make)
  • Build and test prototypes to quickly validate your understanding of an opportunity & potential solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project team groups to support the design & creation of new products and features
  • Keep up a fast-moving pace of experimentation and decision-making

In the long term, you will:

  • Be an expert on our members and translate their wants and needs into meaningful products and experiences
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to deliver high-quality products, features and experiences to our members
  • Lead the end-to-end design process, from effective problem framing, through ideation, co-creation, advanced prototyping, user validation and ending with high-fidelity designs with achieved impact on business
  • Validate your solutions with users, using both qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Own portions of the user journey across all Scott’s Cheap Flights touch points, including web, mobile, email, social, etc. and ensure they function well on their own, and as a whole
  • Serve as an advocate for design best practices across the team and company

What you bring to the table:

  • 4+ years of Product Design experience
  • Hands on experience within consumer product design experience at an early stage startup (bonus for subscription, SaaS or e-commerce)
  • An interest in Growth loops and SaaS
  • Data-informed design approach. You have a passion in informing design decisions by applying business metrics to them
  • Strategic and critical thinking, paired with flexibility and being open minded
  • Experience designing across web, email and mobile apps
  • Hands on experience building & testing clickable prototypes
  • Creativity, resourcefulness, and intense curiosity
  • Clear and earnest written and verbal communication skills
  • High standards for yourself and the designs you create
  • You’re legally authorized to work in the United States and able to work US-hours.

Tools we use:

  • Figma is our primary design and prototyping tool
  • Notion for documentation, collaboration and project management
  • Google Analytics and Preset for analytics
  • Fullstory for anonymized session recordings
  • Miro & Figjam for brainstorming cross-functionally
  • User Interviews, Lookback.io, Typeform & Momentive (SurveyMonkey), usertesting.com for User Research
