Bloom & Wild is re-inventing the $60B global flower industry. Over a billion flower exchanges take place every year and industry satisfaction levels are low. Driven by our vision of creating the destination for making life a little more thoughtful and beautiful, we do things differently. From inventing letterbox flowers to founding The Thoughtful Marketing Movement. And we’ve seen impressive traction to date - we are Europe’s leading online flower company, and the UK’s fastest growing ecommerce company according to the Financial Times, growing at +100%.

In January 2021 we announced our £75 million Series D funding round, led by General Catalyst (backers of Airbnb and Deliveroo), alongside other top tier investors including Index Ventures (investors in Wise and Glossier). We are home to a family of 3 strong brands, Bloom & Wild, bloomon and Bergamotte, having acquired bloomon in April 2021 and Bergamotte in July 2021. Together, we are active in 8 countries.

We really care about creating a diverse and inclusive team and we welcome people from all backgrounds, with different perspectives, ideas and experiences to work with us. In our team, everyone has the freedom to give their opinion, grow in their career and be part of a genuinely caring and inclusive team.

Product at Bloom & Wild
The role of the Product team at Bloom & Wild is to create value for our customers and for Bloom & Wild by developing user facing (e.g. websites, apps) and internal digital product (e.g. warehouse technologies).  We are a team of 15 people including Product Managers, Product Designers and Product Operations who report to the Chief Product Officer with the team located in London, Amsterdam and fully remote.
The Product Design team operates as a Centralised Partnership model — we have a unified purpose, rituals and processes — while embedded in squads operating across eCommerce, Apps, and Design Systems.
We believe that design is a collaborative, inclusive and co-creational discipline that brings both stakeholders and the customer to be active participants in solving problems and identifying the most impactful outcomes — this belief shapes our ways of working, embracing ambiguity and championing collaboration across the org to create clarity, direction and focus through design.
We are looking to hire a Senior Product Designer to join as an Individual Contributor in our Apps squad.  Our apps squad owns the customer experience and commercial performance of our iOS and Android apps.

The role and ways of working
You will lead the discovery and delivery of Apps squad projects as an individual contributor, with ownership of the end-to-end product design process, across iOS and Android.

Collaborate with PMs, Researchers and Analysts to ensure designs are evidence informed and centred around our customers needs.

Understand our key business drivers and ensure we create products that drive commercial and strategic impact.

You will run user research sessions to drive discovery, test designs and validate hypotheses to develop a deep empathy for our customers.

You work well with engineers and pragmatically seek to understand the limitations of digital products, whilst still pushing the boundaries.

Constantly look for ways to improve our digital experience — from optimising squad metrics, identifying the right opportunities, to driving improvements in usability, copy, accessibility, and brand expression.

You are comfortable with ambiguity, and can champion design-thinking to lead cross-functional groups to break down complex problems into simple, solvable steps.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Previous experience: Demonstrable experience designing for iOS and Android apps.
  • Craft: You can design effortless experiences that bring joy to our customers. Combining clearly defined content, information architecture, and creative flair to create delightful, innovative user experiences that solve customer and business problems.
  • Discovery: A portfolio that demonstrates examples of the end to end product discovery and delivery process you’ve followed — from inception, problem framing and ideation, through to delivery, outcomes, and any iterations and optimisations.
  • Problem solving: You are curious and pragmatic — combining qualitative and quantitative evidence, best practice and benchmarking to inform your design process. Equally motivated by small-tweaks and optimisations, and solving big picture problems.
  • Customer-empathy: You have strong customer empathy and are able to combine qualitative and quantitative evidence to deepen your understanding of customers and design to meet their needs.
  • Open, curious and collaborative: You’re a team player with a growth mindset — comfortable facilitating inclusive, collaborative environments to foster co-creation,  proactively sharing early and often, and inviting input and critique.
  • Communication: A confident communicator, able to explain your design decisions supported by rationale based on both industry best practices and gathered insights.
  • Leadership: You are a partner to the PM in your squad, identifying opportunities, shaping out and contributing to the squad roadmap, and driving the success of your domain.

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience: Designing in a direct to consumer eCommerce and/or subscription-based products.
  • User research: You are comfortable with independently leading on user research, identifying and conducting the appropriate activities to gather feedback and validate your designs.
  • Design Systems: Comfortable with following conventions set by a design system, extending and contributing to pattern libraries.
  • Accessibility: Previous experience designing products that meet accessibility standards and compliance guidelines such as WCAG.
  • Content design: experience designing content-led experiences and flows that demonstrate a knowledge of how to communicate clearly and concisely to the customer, while injective brand tone of voice at timely and appropriate moments.
  • Tooling: Comfortable with Figma, with experience using components and styles from shared Libraries.
