What’s the role?
As a Senior Product Design Manager through market and user research, you’ll help set a design vision that supports the needs of both sides of our marketplace—our buyers and sellers. One where people with a passion can connect with others to build a more personal and sustainable future. Simply put, you’ll be designing experiences that always put people first.
Day to day, you’ll collaborate with partners from all sorts of disciplines and perspectives across the company to bring products to life. You’ll lead your team through the design process, helping create a customer-centric design vision while mentoring, coaching, and growing a dedicated team of designers. You’ll partner with our user researchers and data teams to understand user needs and market opportunities. You’ll work with art directors and writers to make design delightful and brand-aligned. You’ll help the team build experiences our customers love, by making sure every last design detail is ready for launch.
This is a full-time position reporting to a Product Design Director. For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States who are either remote, flex, or office-based. Helping people narrow down their options and navigate the sea of unique items on Etsy is challenging and exciting! For our Etsy Ads team we are building a platform to support and provide a way for sellers to promote and surface their items to more buyers while creating an experience that is simple and straightforward while also being robust enough to manage their business.
What does the day-to-day look like?
Lead product designers by mentoring and creating career growth opportunities for those on your team
Collaborate with cross-functional leads to craft the vision, strategy, and operations of your initiatives
Ensure we are building the right products for our customers, and help teams take the best near-term steps toward their long-term vision
Advocate for our customer, and guide teams to deliver well-executed and on-brand experiences by using our design system
Lead regular design reviews, critiques, and brainstorming sessions for your teams
Facilitate continuous learning and improvement for the product design team and its members
Recruit and hire outstanding design talent and facilitate onboarding of new designers
Partner with our Design Systems team to make plans to evolve the components and styles for our internal tooling needs
Work alongside the broader Design Leadership team to craft our teams’ culture, processes, and tools
