We're looking for a Sr Marketing Design Manager to join our team as we turn Shop into one of the most beloved products and brands in the world. We want shoppers to be able to develop meaningful connections with the brands they love, and we believe that Shop is the answer to helping them build relationships with all the merchants we represent and support at Shopify. 

As our Sr Marketing Design Manager on Shop, you will lead and scale a team of designers as we push and scale the Shop brand. Your role will be involved in how Shop’s identity permeates across all the touchpoints from top of funnel campaigns and content to influencing in-product moments experienced by our two core audiences of merchants and buyers. This means driving our brand strategy through a strong and collaborative creative process across marketers, channel specialists, designers, and content designers, while ensuring that our brand mission and values are owned. 

Responsibilities

• Own the creative vision and direction of the brand to inspire designers and push a high level of distinction in the marketplace and quality in execution

• Be the expert in the latest trends and how brands are translating their mission into impactful and memorable creative

• Own the ongoing development and maintenance of brand guidelines including foundational principles, visual language, and application of brand across channels including influencing product adaptations

• Collaborate and facilitate with multidisciplinary teams to produce new ideas for Shop branding, promotional campaigns, and marketing communications, managing the creative process from concept to completion

• Hire and scale talent in our in-house design practice. Manage and cultivate the career development of the team

• Bachelor’s degree in art, graphic design, marketing, communications, journalism and other relevant fields

• Must be a creative and strategic thinker that knows how to balance the needs of the business while pushing creative boundaries

• Experience developing brand identities and working on a consumer-facing or marketplace brand where your involvement began at the early stages of a high growth company/ product/ brand.

• A mastery of the craft of brand, evidenced by a strong portfolio of recent work that showcases the direct impact of your leadership across design, content, development.

• Brilliant interpersonal and communication skills
