Job Description

We are seeking a Product Marketing Lead to bring Shopify Plus products to market while building and telling the story of what makes Shopify the top choice for large, fast growing merchants. In this individual contributor role, you will work closely with product, sales, account management, channel marketing, and market intelligence teams to determine the right solutions narrative, product positioning, messaging, launch strategies, and product roadmap, as well as demonstrate how Shopify Plus fits into the overall platform story.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the product life cycle and market research techniques, excellent communications skills, and proven product marketing experience, preferably in the B2B and SaaS space. This person will be a creative, collaborative leader who brings energy and insight to deliver high-impact marketing communications that builds brand value and delivers measurable results to the business.

The Impact You Will Have:

  • Work collaboratively across multiple product, UX, marketing, and revenue teams to understand, build, and communicate our product and go-to-market strategy.
  • Own the strategic sales narrative used by Marketing and Sales to communicate the value of Shopify’s products to prospects and customers.
  • Architect short and long term go-to-market moments, connecting key narratives to product milestones.
  • Work with marketing channel owners to bring your plans to life across different marketing channels and deliver campaign results.
  • Identify, monitor and analyze internal and external performance parameters to position, modify features, and identify new uses for the product.
  • Understand customer segments, personas, industry, competitive landscapes, and educate internal teams accordingly.
  • Work with international teams to understand country-specific needs and feedback to better inform product strategy, go-to-market approach, and pricing/packaging plans.
  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.

Qualifications

  • You have solid experience and excel in the product marketing craft. This translates to several years of experience as a product marketer leading positioning, messaging, go-to-market, and pricing.
  • Experience in leading end-to-end product marketing strategy and driving research, go-to-market strategy, and growth of a product portfolio.
  • You can synthesize complex product narratives into compelling stories for multiple audiences, and you understand how those stories might come to life on different marketing channels (social, blogs, webinars, etc.).
  • Proven experience developing customer-facing messaging and content.
  • Ability to create strong partnerships with product, marketing, sales, and account management teams.
  • Experience managing senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience launching products in multiple regions, globally.
  • A highly analytical and data-driven mindset; you have strong knowledge of data tools, including SQL and Excel, and are able to leverage data and research to drive decisions.

It would be a bonus if you have

  • Previous experience marketing eCommerce
  • Previous experience in a B2B, product-led SaaS organization
