About the role:

As a Product Manager focusing on our first app, you will be responsible for shaping strategy and owning the execution of our first native iOS and Android product. You will interview customers and deeply understand their needs, pain points, and desires. Working with a cross-functional squad, you will bring the best app experience in the travel industry to life. We have some ambitious goals, but that's never stopped someone like you (or us)!

A mobile app will provide our members convenience, and a richer experience, and enable us to focus on future offerings in a more groundbreaking way. This will not just be a mirroring of our web application but a new product that will address member opportunities that can best be met specifically by a mobile app. This is a huge opportunity to join a special (we’re bootstrapped and profitable) company at a key inflection point to surpass our members’ expectations and take their experience to new heights. This role will report to the Director of Product.

In the short term, you will:

  • Dive into our business to deeply understand our product and business goals
  • Establish a regular cadence of interviewing members. We practice Continuous Discovery, believe in facilitating product research, and validate our riskiest assumptions. You should be an expert in our members - past, present, and future.
  • Lead documentation and communication throughout the entirety of the product lifecycle for both technical processes as well as cross-functional teams that may be affected by changes as it relates to mobile. We’re a remote-first company, so strong documentation & communication are vital.
  • Work with your team leads (design, engineering, flight expert/product ops) to shape & ship features our members value highly.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ensure that our apps are our flagship experience and properly reflect our brand.
  • Help us iterate to launch. We’re at the point where roadmapping is useful as we have an early version established. You will take this over the line, and help us de-risk from internal testing, to a private beta, and finally to a full launch.

In the long term, you will:

  • Help shape the strategy and the execution of our mobile app features/experiences.
  • Focus on being a native app first, this means potentially shaping the development of "app-only" experiences
  • Understand our customers (and their Jobs to be Done) and explore new ways we can delight them in hard-to-copy, margin-enhancing ways.

What you bring to the table:

  • Innovation: You have a track record of optimizing existing product lines, and building new, revenue-generating ones from the ground up. You can articulate the “first principles of product management” (Spoiler: We think they’re found in Continuous Discovery).
  • Design Mind: You have a background in design, or have worked very closely with design. You understand that a Product Designer does a lot more than make something pretty.
  • Empathetic Leader: People love working with you, but it’s not because you agree with everything they say. You push back and go deeper but always with deep respect and tact. You listen carefully when others are speaking, and offer your insights judiciously. You lead without authority.
  • Product Execution: You have experience in every stage of the product cycle - planning, discovery, development, testing, analysis, and sunsetting.
  • Data Driven: You have experience with data analysis and hypothesis-driven experimentation, and have worked closely with data analysts in past roles.
  • Change Agent: You aren't afraid to think outside the box, and you are deeply curious about “defaults” (why things are the way they are).
  • Simplifying Complexity: You value clarity over verboseness. You always strive to be efficient.
  • Big Picture Thinking: You are able to develop products that tie together member opportunities and what is most strategically sound for the business.
  • Must have's:
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
  • 1-2 years of native mobile app Product Management experience
  • Comfortability with ambiguity
  • Knowledge of software development processes
  • Knowledge and a keen interest in product frameworks/techniques
  • Experience with various native app tools, plugins, and frameworks, so you can help us evaluate app technology choices
  • Experience conducting customer interviews and using insights to build high-impact products
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in a highly cross-functional environment
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and plan to work full-time in the United States
  • Nice to have's:
  • Experience with Continuous Discovery
  • Strong understanding of the travel industry
  • Subscription experience
  • Consumer brand experience

Who you’ll work with

  • You will report to Kelsey Terry.
  • You’ll be a member of the Mobile Squad with Tika Appaiah, Sara Pope, Raphael Croce, and Lousson Smith (a dream team if we ever did see one!).
  • Your partners in Product will be Julie Watt & Greg Koeka.
  • We’d list everyone here if we could. This is an extremely high-exposure, cross-functional position. You’ll be working with leadership, all of the marketing, and most of the organization in this role.

Why you might love working here:

  • Depending on your years of experience in Product Management, you will either be hired at $100,000 + equity or $119,068 + equity.
  • 100% remote work environment, so go ahead and bring your dog to work or wear your PJs to the office!
  • $500/Quarter Remote Work Stipend
  • $75/month Physical & Mental Wellness Stipend
  • Open vacation policy, with a 3-week minimum!
  • Comprehensive health, vision, dental, and life insurance
  • 401(k) with a 5% match
  • Up to 12 weeks of paid family leave
  • No Meeting/Flex Fridays
  • Meetup stipend when you cross paths with a co-worker
  • Continuing education & development reimbursement
  • Yearly team retreat (In September, we went to Zion National Park. In April we’re headed to… well, you’ll just have to join to find out. 🙂)
  • Challenging problems to solve and an awesome team to collaborate with every single day
We want you to bring your authentic self to work every single day. We accept you for who you are and consider everyone on an equal opportunity basis without regard to ancestry; age; appearance; color; gender identity and/or expression; genetics; family or parental status; marital, civil union, or domestic partnership status; mental, physical, or sensory disability; national, social or ethnic origin; past or present military service; sexual orientation; socioeconomic status; race; religion or belief.

If you require reasonable accommodation or assistance for any part of the interview and employment process, please contact us at [email protected] and let us know the nature of your request.
