About the Team

At DoorDash, our goal is to help shape the future of our local economies by enabling restaurants and local businesses to thrive. We deeply believe the best customer experience is synonymous to the success of our business, and that design plays an important role in this success by providing critical thought partnership in cross-functional product development.

Within the Merchant Design team we focus on creating customer-centric experiences that help local businesses operate successfully on DoorDash and beyond. We strive to be the essential partner for every merchant, from helping them increase their sales and customer base to providing new solutions that help extend their business beyond their four walls.

About the Role

As Senior Product Designer on the Merchant Success team you’ll be responsible for helping merchants grow their sales in profitable ways by surfacing business growth and optimization opportunities throughout their journey. As part of this strategy you’ll bring a strong user centric mindset, helping to establish standards and frameworks for other teams to leverage across DoorDash. You’ll work with a multidisciplinary team of product managers, developers, business partners, researchers, content strategists, and more to deliver world class experiences that solve complex problems in simple, elegant ways.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Own the user experience of products end-to-end, including contributing to product strategy, running design sprints, and crafting visions
  • Explore complex, ambiguous problem spaces, working with your cross-functional team to understand the opportunity, and then chart a path forward
  • Push the creative boundaries of our merchant experiences with your design explorations through wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual design
  • Help merchants grow their businesses and improve the lives of millions of DoorDash customers every day
  • Design and ship high quality product experiences

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 5+ years of work experience
  • You thrive in ambiguous environments, and bring clarity to your teams through your mastery of the design process
  • You are a strong communicator and facilitator who enjoys collaborating across lots of different functions
  • You’re a systems-thinker who translates complexity into intuitive experiences and considers every facet of the user journey
  • You skilfully balance strategy, research, interaction design, and visual design to achieve simple and elegant solutions
  • You value high quality well crafted visual design, and care about the details
  • You are self-aware, curious, and humble.
  • Prior design experience in local, commerce, and logistics industry is a big plus

Why You’ll Love Working at DoorDash

  • We are leaders – Leadership is not limited to our management team. It’s something everyone at DoorDash embraces and embodies.
  • We are operators – We believe the only way to predict the future is to build it. Creating solutions to lead our company and our industry is what we do on every project, every day.
  • We are learners – Everyone here is continually learning on the job, no matter if we’ve been in a role for one year or one minute. We are committed to learning and implementing what is best for our customers, merchants, and dashers.
  • We are one team – The magic of DoorDash is our people, together making our inspiring goals attainable and driving us to greater heights.

About the Team

The Merchant Design team creates the tools merchants use every day to be successful on DoorDash. We aim to be the essential partner for every merchant, whether that's enhancing their in-store operations, helping them increase their sales and customers, providing a platform for white-labeled logistics, supporting custom e-commerce solutions, and more.

We are at the important point of transforming the user experience to the next level, and we are growing fast as our business expands beyond food delivery. Join us on our journey to accomplish our vision of becoming the last-mile logistics infrastructure for the world. We're looking for designers excited to build industry-leading tools to empower our merchants large and small, everywhere.

About the Role

You will lead all aspects of design for one of our merchant product areas, including vision, strategy, and execution. You will work with a diverse team of product managers, developers, researchers, content strategists, and more, to build outstanding experiences that make running a delivery business simple and easy.

We are still in an early stage, which means you'll have opportunities to shape our culture and process from the ground up, and work on big, meaningful design problems.

You will report to the Head of Merchant Design.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Own the user experience end-to-end, including contributing to product strategy, running design sprints, and creating visions
  • Work closely with product managers, engineers, and other disciplines to build and ship your designs
  • Create and refine flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals
  • Communicate both your design work and the support for your design decisions across the company
  • Provide direct and impactful feedback to other designers on the team, helping designers on adjacent product teams grow their skills

We're excited about you because…

  • You are a senior or staff-level IC with 6+ years of work experience
  • You bring clarity to your teams through your mastery of the design process (and the occasional design sprint)
  • You balance strategy, research, interaction design, and visual design to achieve elegant solutions
  • You are comfortable working within complex systems and technologies
  • You value high-quality well crafted visual design, and care about the details
  • You are an excellent storyteller, able to clearly communicate your design work and your design decisions
