Our team of 90+ designers and user researchers is split into three departments covering User Experience Research, Product- and Brand Design. All designers work embedded in product tribes, in market facing teams or as part of a Global Design team. We are building additional capabilities in areas including industrial design, motion design, data visualization, UX writing and design operations.

Our mission on Merchant Growth is to provide intuitive solutions that are as simple as possible for all SumUp merchants to use, because we want our merchants to succeed through growing their business. As Principal Product Designer, you’ll join the POS team on Merchant Growth Tribe. The POS team is focused on building foundational, scalable POS solutions for our merchants, to help them run their business smoothly and build relationships with their customers. You'll be responsible for helping create simple yet beautiful solutions that cater to real-life merchant problems. You will be leading product design across all phases of the product development cycle, and collaborating closely with the product and tech leaders to shape our products. 

As we put the user at the center of every decision we need a strong Designer that constantly advocates and drives a human-centered design approach. You will support squads by applying your craft, delivering on our commitment to design excellence, while also driving the evolution of our processes and guidelines to educate fellow designers on how to best approach problems. You will also need to work collaboratively with Designers and stakeholders from across the organization to ensure your solutions work seamlessly across the entire end-to-end journey.

You will facilitate strategic and pragmatic conversations about solving merchant problems via a variety of smart tools, and ensure that the continuous knowledge building of our merchants and their needs is the foundation for decision making.

You will mentor designers on your team and across the global design community for career development and design excellence.

Requirements

  • You have 7+ years of experience as a UX & UI Designer
  • You have experience leading a team of at least 1 Designer
  • You have experience leading projects across different teams
  • Your design process follows a human-centered approach and you apply both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to validate your solutions
  • You execute across all phases of design work: participate in research, define conceptual foundation for design solutions, execute excellent UX flows, apply visual design systems, prototype using a variety of tools and methods, create production ready designs, participate or conduct usability testing and support multi-disciplinary teams during implementation. 
  • You work with independently on complex set of features, collaborate with product management and engineering to arrive at optimal solutions, and coordinate across teams to create a holistic merchant experience
  • You proactively engage with your design chapter and peers to get feedback and optimize the end-2-end customer journey
  • You have designed and shipped complex web and mobile applications across the entire product development cycle
  • You contribute best-of-class design components and UX patterns to the global design system and commit to upholding the highest standards and a shared vision
  • Your excellent presentation and stakeholder management skills will help you communicate the value of design across the whole company
  • You have experience in working in an agile environment and the ability to adapt quickly to changing product priorities.
  • You have worked on global products so that you can anticipate global differences and empathize with the diversity of merchant’s needs
