Quizlet is the popular, global learning platform and app that millions of students, teachers and everyday people use to study any subject imaginable for school, work or as part of their personal interests -- including two-thirds of high school students and half of all college students in the US. Combining cognitive science and machine learning, Quizlet guides students through adaptive study activities to confidently reach their learning goals. We’re on track to become the undisputed leader in user-generated learning content and engagement, at the scale of YouTube.

Valued at $1 billion, Quizlet has raised over $60 million in venture capital from investors including Icon Ventures, Union Square Ventures, General Atlantic, Costanoa Ventures, Owl Ventures, and Altos Ventures.

To serve our global community of learners, our teams tackle lofty technical challenges and design for use cases across cultures and languages. We work hard, act like owners, and collaborate every chance we get. We’re energized by the potential to power more learners through multiple approaches and various tools.

About the Team:

The Subscriptions team is responsible for building a scalable, flexible, and defect-free subscription platform. The team supports building a payments infrastructure and driving subscription revenue growth. With a strong feature pipeline, the Subscriptions team has a huge opportunity to drive product/feature trials, subs conversions and renewals, maximize user conversion through pricing, packaging, and channel optimizations while building frictionless purchase experiences. We are a highly driven set of individuals who take on big goals and take pride in exceeding them.

About the Role:

As a Product Manager, you will focus on transforming our subscriptions platform and payments infrastructures and work closely on shipping initiatives that drive subs revenue growth. You will fully own our subscriptions platform and payments infrastructure, and jointly own our subscriptions revenue growth. You'll partner and cross-collaborate with various departments at Quizlet to help build the product roadmap and drive execution to deliver results.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Denver, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, and San Francisco offices.

In this role, you will:

  • Own the Product Management of our subscriptions platform and payment infrastructure
  • Be responsible for making our subscriptions platform more flexible and scalable, so that we can test and rollout pricing, packaging and purchase flow optimizations quickly and with fewer resources
  • Be responsible for launching new payment methods, lowering cost of payments, lowering declines, maximizing payment authorization rates, minimizing payment disputes and fraud, and minimizing payment defects across dozens of currencies and traditional and alternative payment methods.
  • Jointly own the subscription growth metrics and performance against them
  • Own the Product Management of subscriptions growth initiatives, including: purchase flow optimizations, paid-feature trials, free-to-paid conversion, subscriber onboarding, engagement & renewals, and pricing, packaging & offers.
  • Collaborate with Data Science & Analytics, Finance & Accounting, User Operations, and User Research teams to build a roadmap informed by user/usage/performance data and user research, while partnering with Quizlet's Engineering and Marketing teams to deliver on it
  • 30 days: Deliver a high level assessment of key challenges and opportunities backed by existing data/research
  • 60 days: Build a strategy and roadmap for your portfolio
  • 90 days: Deliver a measurable impact on one or more subscriptions metrics including revenue, costs, and product performance

What you bring to the table:

  • 8+ years of experience in building and managing products for direct-to-consumer businesses, preferably in Software/ SaaS/Consumer Web Products/Apps/eCommerce
  • Experience in building and managing subscription products and payment systems
  • Ability to fully own a portfolio of projects, driving planning and execution independently, with minimum supervision, in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Strong critical thinking skills to solve highly complex problems
  • Exceptional ability in identifying and interpreting data, recognizing trends and patterns, synthesizing to root cause problems, identifying untapped opportunities, and drive decisions
  • Ability to uplevel the conversations to get executive buy in and then translate it to detailed product specs to drive execution with engineering and data science teams. In other words, the ability to seamlessly switch from ROI conversations to UX reviews to sprint planning and API design
  • A cool head that knows how to build trust, bring stakeholders along, build alignment, escalate with transparency, drive accountability without formal authority, get things done, and deliver results
  • A desire for doing big bold things and taking pride in what you do and the work you produce

Bonus points if you have:

  • Prior experience with Subscriptions Management Systems ( Zuora, Recurly or similar), Payment Gateways (Chase, Braintree, Stripe, Paypal, Adyen, or similar), Fraud identifications/prevention tools (Safetech, Microsoft, Kount, ZFP or similar) and other 3rd party providers for tax collection, automatic refunds, payment recovery, and user disputes
