As the Lead User Experience Researcher at 1stDibs, you will be instrumental in helping the product team identify strategic opportunities and make continuous improvements, powered by a deeper understanding of users across our global marketplace. 

We believe that proactive qualitative and quantitative user research is essential to finding opportunities to best serve our users, and driving innovation in our solutions. You'll collaborate with product and design peers and with cross-functional stakeholders throughout the entire development lifecycle, including product strategy, discovery, concept development, design iterations, and data-driven experimentation.

Your expertise and contribution will support and shape 1stDibs' strategic initiatives. This role is a leadership opportunity, reporting directly to the VP of User Experience design. It is an opportunity to define new directions for user research at 1stDibs, including research operations and the future growth of the practice.

This role is based in New York with some expectations to come to our office in Manhattan. 

What you'll do

  • You will define and manage the operations and roadmap of the user research function, coordinating closely with product and design senior leadership
  • Collaborate with product managers to understand and proactively recommend how research can support their work, set their strategy, and prioritize their roadmaps
  • Scope and execute research using a variety of methods including discovery interviews, usability and concept testing, and surveys
  • Screen and recruit research participants including scheduling and managing incentives
  • Create and maintain living repository of research insights 
  • Distill raw data, both qualitative and quantitative, into actionable insights and opportunities
  • Present and share research findings and insights across teams, disciplines, and stakeholders
  • Champion and advocate a vibrant and visible user research program at 1stDibs  as a key component of the product design cycle.

What you'll bring

  • You have 5+ years of experience as a UX researcher in a product environment, ideally across multiple user segments, such as buyers and seller (e-commerce experience a plus)
  • You have experience with qualitative research, including recruiting for and moderating interviews, both online and in-person
  • You have experience with quantitative research including building and deploying surveys, and analyzing survey and user behavioral data
  • You’re proficient at communicating user research findings with cross-functional partners and stakeholders to drive impact.

Nice to Haves:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field

Our overall compensation package is made of several parts, base compensation being one of them. Tri-State Pay Range
$150,000$180,000 USD
