Back Market is the #1 marketplace for refurbished electronic devices in Europe and in the US, leading the way in a shift towards a circular economy, freeing the planet from electronic waste. We are proud to sabotage ‘new’ by connecting highly certified professionals to consumers who are looking for a more affordable, reliable and an ecological alternative to purchasing brand new products.

Back Market is undergoing meteoric growth and has raised over 884M€ already! We have the objective of reaching 1000 Back Makers (or Saboteurs) by the end of 2022!

We are thrilled to have an inclusive, fulfilling and caring work environment in all our offices (Paris, Bordeaux, Barcelona, New-York, Prague, Berlin and Tokyo). This is an opportunity for you to join a talented, humble and passionate team at the heart of innovation.

Be a part of the movement. Join the refurb revolution.

Back Market is growing fast all over the world. We recently launched in Japan with large ambitions. To support our Asian development, we’re looking for an experienced Product Manager able to drive growth by leading both delivery and discovery on a very large and transversal scope.

As Japan Product Manager, you’ll work hand-in-hand with our General Manager for Japan, in order to identify the best opportunities and initiatives to adapt BackMarket’s global business model to Japan. With the help of both our dedicated tech team based in Tokyo and of the rest of our refurbished-market expert Product team based in Paris, you’ll have full latitude to perform all the experiences that you deem relevant in order to improve our CVR and fuel our growth in Japan.

Asia is a company within the company at Back Market: the Japanese website has been launched on a different tech platform than the rest of BackMarket, and is led by a dedicated team with the support of an external development team based in Tokyo.

Being part of the Product Team and based in Tokyo, you will be in charge of defining and owning the full roadmap for Japan and Asia as a whole. You will lead Back Market further expansion in Asia from a Product standpoint.

YOUR MISSION (IF YOU ACCEPT IT): ?

  • Take full responsability of the entire discovery process, taking into account the input and needs from our Asian business and ops team
  • Deliver the features that you’ve identified as relevant to be tested and implemented with the help of our development team based in Tokyo. You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality features both to our mobile and desktop interfaces by leading the full product cycle: problem identification, user research, ideation, design, development, and launch
  • Track and report experiments and new features. Based on strong analytics and backed by compelling data, you’ll be able to determine if they are efficient, if we should keep them or not or even if we should think of having them in other geographies
  • Liaise with all product counterparts (data and product analysts, product designers, UX researchers, etc.) and different squads to ensure that your product fits perfectly into the Back Market experience
  • Communicate with the different company stakeholders on your active topics, successes and failures, vision and what’s coming for Asia, with the ultimate goal of maintaining Asia close to the rest of the company as far as the Product adaptation deepens
  • Align every stakeholders to meet the crucial mid-term goal of reintegrating Japan and Asia as a whole into our core tech platform

YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE IF: ⭐

  • You have a strong experience (5 years and more) as a PM in an Agile environment on growth-related and transverse topics
  • You have one successful experience in an e-commerce company on a business position
  • You have a strong UX/UI sense
  • You have a strong interest in tech-related topics (good knowledge of APIs, coding basics, etc.)
  • You are able to tackle various tasks and various topics during the same day: this role is very transverse and encompasses business topics including marketing, supply, customer care, shipping and logistics, payment and a lot more (pretty much everything actually)
  • You have a hands-on approach, and you're comfortable working in an early-stage environment, where stepping out of your direct responsibilities in order to help your Business, Finance or Engineering counterparts is common practice
  • You have product management experience in an agile environment (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and you are able to shape product discovery and delivery according to lean/agile principles
  • Your rigor will allow you to guide your squad in the most efficient way possible: writing detailed specifications and framing, being as efficient as possible on defining our user stories, evaluating different evolution requests, continuously benchmarking to participate in the evolution of our user experience are for you a no-brainer
  • You have no problem with navigating ambiguous situations and have a profound problem solver attitude using data and the user at the center of all your thoughts
  • You have a strong international experience and are used to handle cultural differences
  • Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills help you in building strong relationships and handling business stakeholders and top management expectations
  • You are rigorous, humble, curious and proactive. Team spirit is essential for you
  • English is a no brainer, we are an international team
  • Japanese is a strong plus

  • Xiaolin, Senior Lead Growth Asia
  • Clément, CFO and/or Alexis, Director of Operations and Growth Asia
  • Thibaud, CEO
