Our health system is broken, and it’s a huge problem. Costs are rising out of control while the patient experience gets worse. At Sana, we're passionate about fixing this problem by bringing accessible and affordable health plans to small and medium businesses. We've built an innovative team with top talent from across the health insurance and tech industries to create engaging, modern plans for our clients. This allows our customers to offer competitive benefits packages while paying an average of 20% less than traditional plans.

Sana is in search of a Director of Product Marketing. This role will lead a small team of Product and Content Marketers to deliver amazing marketing content throughout all phases of Sana’s marketing & sales funnel. They will be a player-coach, who is just as comfortable  mapping our customer journeys and creating messaging documents as they are honing their team’s drafts and growing their careers.  The right candidate will have several years of experience in B2B marketing, have built great relationships with both Product and Sales teams, and be a great writer.  They love winning, have a positive attitude, and motivate those around them to do their best work.

What you will do

  • Build and manage a team: Manage and develop current team members. Recruit and train new ones. Be a great developer of talent. Choose the most important OKRs and prioritize your team’s time to ensure optimal achievement.
  • Own Positioning and Messaging: Optimize our product positioning and messaging through research with prospects, customers, Sales, and Operations, as well as competitive research.  Bridge the gap between Product and Marketing by turning industry-speak and jargon into language that is immediately understandable to our prospects and customers and which resonates with them.
  • Produce Effective Content: Own the production of Sana’s Marketing and Sales content.  Create a strategy for our content needs each quarter and for the fulfillment of those pieces. Be Sana’s editor in chief, working with your team and Design to ensure our website, ads, social media, and PR are on message and on brand.
  • Build Great Relationships: Develop a strong rapport with the Sales team, and deliver the assets they need to increase conversion rates at each stage of the Sales funnel. Work with the rest of Marketing to develop customer lifecycle marketing campaigns, a content calendar, and go to market strategies. Collaborate with Product to ensure consistency through the Sales, Onboarding and user experiences.
  • Understand the Market: Be the point person for competitive analysis.  Understand health care and health insurance, where Sana stands in the competitive landscape, which strengths we should focus on currently in our Sales & Marketing efforts and which weaknesses we should prioritize with Product and Operations for improvement.
  • Leverage Data: Define the metrics that should be used to measure your value added, and work with Marketing Ops to develop reports that show those metrics.

About you

  • You have 8+ years of Marketing experience, with at least 4 years in Product Marketing and 4 years in people management.  B2B experience is strongly preferred.
  • You have no compunctions about doing the work yourself. The Product Marketing team is growing but small, and for the foreseeable future, this role will be a player-coach.
  • You are not a micro-manager and operate best in high-trust teams.
  • You have a demonstrated history of growing the careers of those reporting to you.
  • You are a good writer and editor, and willing to prove it.
  • You like talking to other people inside and outside the company. You have worked extensively with teams outside of Marketing to gather the requirements for the content you spearhead. You like picking prospects’ and customers’ brains about how they think about their problems, our products, and everything in between.
  • You’re a great communicator. First and foremost, this requires you to be a great active listener. Second, you are gifted at communicating complex ideas with succinct phrasing in both oral and written communications.
  • You are analytical. You can take apart business problems piece by piece to understand where to start looking for answers.
  • You’re a great teammate. You crave honest feedback from your peers so that you can get better every day. You give them that feedback. You have a positive impact on the mood of those around you and love winning with them.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Stock options in rapidly scaling startup
