We are looking for entrepreneurial, product minded aspiring Product Managers from non-traditional backgrounds to be apprentices in our AsanaUP APM apprenticeship program in our San Francisco team. AsanaUP is a paid 6-month opportunity to gain the knowledge, tools, and skills that will enable you to thrive in the technology industry.

The Product Management team drives Asana’s product strategy and execution, translating customer needs and opportunities into a compelling roadmap and working cross-functionally to deliver impactful solutions for team productivity and collaboration. We’re helping to define the Work Management category and inventing new ways for teams to work more efficiently together and see the larger purpose behind their work. Our team works directly with Engineering, Design, Experience Research, and Data Science, as well as with Sales, Support, and Marketing to ship great products. You’ll take part in every type of product work here — from strategy to product to process improvements — conceptualizing, launching, and iterating on Asana itself for millions of teams around the world.

What you’ll achieve

  • Build deep expertise on customers' needs and how we might address them
  • Be in the driver's seat of the end-to-end process of shipping features and iterations to solve those needs
  • Partner with Design and Research to design and prototype multiple ideas quickly, sometimes with customers, to validate product directions
  • Partner with Engineering to build and ship high quality features fast
  • Contribute to everything from the broadest strategic discussions to the specifics of a marketing campaign and launch
  • Experience career growth and personal development with world-class mentorship and development programs

About you

  • You have a non-traditional Product Management background and face barriers of entry into the tech industry, including but not limited to: no prior experience in tech, no prior experience in Product Management, you do not hold a product related degree
  • You have proactive experience thinking about how to create great products/experiences for people via a product management bootcamp, a product-focused side project like building an app, being a student entrepreneur, being self taught in product management, or the equivalent
  • Growth Mindset - You are curious. You are a learner. Your curiosity drives your passion for products that solve problems. You seek feedback and incorporate what you learn.
  • Strategic - Ability to recognize patterns, see opportunities, and capture and communicate the plan for how we win. You think big picture.
  • Get Stuff Done - Ability to translate broad vision into decisive action. You work efficiently and expect the same of others. You have a passion for improving team productivity.
  • Grow Team Asana - You invest in your team and support the growth of individuals and expansion of the team.
  • Customer Centric - Strong customer focus and empathy. Strong data, metrics, and analysis skills
  • Communication and Collaboration - You love working on a team, driving results, clarity, and shared outcomes. You are a clear communicator.

What we’ll offer
