UX Writing Intern

Job Summary:

Help us improve product usability, adoption, and engagement through consistent, conversational UX writing.

The Product Design Team is looking for a UX Writing Intern that can help the team craft user experiences tailored to the audiences we serve. The ideal candidate is collaborative, detail-oriented, and eager to learn the craft of UX Writing. This summer the team will focus on accessibility guidelines and the Design System.

This is a remote-based role for candidates in Canada and the United States. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Contribute to writing user-facing copy, whether that be an error message or a complex user flow.
• Research design systems and accessibility guidelines. Make recommendations for how we might incorporate new ideas in our current guidelines.
• Collaborate with other UX Writers and the design system team to evolve and maintain the UX Writing Style Guide and design system content guidelines.
• Share your work with other UX writers and cross-disciplinary partners, and participate in design reviews.
• Provide a fresh perspective on existing structures and practices.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Familiarity with style guides
• Understanding of user experience design principles and interaction patterns
• Knowledge of capabilities of web and mobile apps
• Comfortable working with design tools, such as Figma or Sketch
• Eager to collaborate successfully with cross-­functional partners
• Interest in design systems and content guidelines **Note: This is a writing and content strategy role, not a product design role

Education and Experience:

• Enrolled in a Liberal arts program (undergraduate or graduate level) with a writing emphasis (journalism, languages, copywriting, technical communication.)
• 1+ years experience writing, or demonstrated interest in writing
• A link to at least one writing sample
