  • JOB TYPE: Freelance, Contract Position (no agencies/C2C - see notes below)
  • LOCATION: Charlotte, NC (TimeZone: PST/CIST | Partial overlap)
  • HOURLY RANGE: Our client is looking to pay $90 – $120/hr
  • ESTIMATED DURATION: 40h/week - Long term




Charlotte, NC ONLY (no exception) / Hybrid requiring 3 days/week in office

Bank equipment/laptop required to stay in the US


What you’ll be working on

A common purpose guides: to help make financial lives better by connecting clients and communities to the resources they need to succeed. Our client’s Experience Design (XD) team creates world-class end-to-end digital experiences that are intuitive, innovative, engaging and inclusive. They are a multi-disciplinary design organization with expertise across product design, content strategy, copywriting, user experience, conversational/AI design, creative direction, ux research and user testing, design program management, production design and design technology. The team is constantly defining, iterating, solving problems and working together to find ways all their digital platforms can empower customers to reach their financial goals by designing and delivering next-level experiences that provide ease, convenience and safety while matching to individual needs and preferences.


What you’ll do in this role


You’ll apply your extraordinary command of the written word to the ever-changing challenges of their digital landscape. Collaborating with a team of design, product and content experts, you’ll write sharp copy that helps make their customers’ financial lives easier. You’ll also:

  • Develop and polish content that blends seamlessly across our client's digital products, applying their existing style, brand and tone guidelines and making them even better along the way

  • Tell stories, drive crisp and cohesive narratives for digital experiences that engage users, and enable them to complete tasks -- collaborating with multi-disciplinary product designers to present compelling imagery and language

  • Create content every step of the way – from early ideation to digital delivery including: content value propositions, content design deliverables, and final copy for comprehensive specifications, prototypes, and content management systems

  • Digest content, design and business requirements quickly and use them to guide your work

  • Willingly take on the challenge of writing and revising until all stakeholders are satisfied

  • Participate in a collaborative ecosystem where we give and get helpful feedback every day

  • Work on a few projects at once, managing your time, keeping up with evolving details and meeting or managing stakeholders’ expectations

  • Evaluate and benchmark best practices and best-in-class digital experiences

  • Engage effectively with people across the bank, partnering with a diverse set of project stakeholders including product managers, engineers, and business partners


You’re a person who has (required skills)

  • 3+ years of industry experience as a content designer, content strategist, UX writer or copy writer

  • The receipts: a record of working with cross-functional product development, content and design teams to ship customer-facing digital products

  • Experience writing and shaping many different kinds of content across system, user, ecommerce and transactional experiences, including copy for apps, responsive web and websites

  • A working knowledge of the AP Style Guide, WCAG 2.1 standards and a keen eye for typos

  • Contribute to and follow editorial and tone standards

  • A portfolio of work samples that you’re proud to share

  • A solid understanding of user-centered design and rapid ideation processes (e.g., Agile, Lean UX)

  • Experience using quantitative and qualitative data to inform and inspire content choices

  • A working knowledge of common content management systems

You’ll be better prepared if you have (desired skills)

  • Experience with Jira, Confluence using Content Management Systems (CMS)

  • Experience collaborating through Sketch, InVision, and other common design tools

  • General knowledge of AI and its applications

  • Experience with writing and managing content for Conversational UI and Voice UI systems

  • Financial services experience

  • Proofreading or editing experience
