Job description

UserTesting® was founded in 2007, crossed $100M in revenue in 2020, and began trading under USER on the NYSE in 2021. The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California, with regional offices in Atlanta, Edinburgh, and Singapore. A trusted company by top brands for 14+ years, UserTesting has over 2,500 customers in 45 countries including more than half of the world’s top 100 most valuable brands according to Forbes.

A leader in video-based human insight, we believe the path to human understanding starts with shared insight—seeing and hearing how another person engages with the world around them and taking in their perspective. We’re for capturing the kind of human responses that don’t show up in a spreadsheet. This is what inspires us, and it’s how we enable companies to connect with their audiences, authentically, through an experience that’s uniquely, and intentionally, human.

We’re proud to have been named to the Inc. Best-Led Companies of 2021 and the Fortune Best Workplaces in the Bay Area 2021 lists, along with having received a variety of additional workplace and corporate growth awards. Choosing to join our team means being part of a passionate group focused on transforming the way companies understand their customers and build better products and experiences. Come join us and help us build the engine for human understanding!

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to help our customers discover insights about their customers and the products they use … faster and with more clarity. We are seeking a strong customer-focused UX designer with an aptitude for data visualization and bringing meaning to numbers. This includes expertise with infographics, motion graphics, comfort working with big datasets, and creativity in generating data signals that benefit the user’s experience.

What you'll do:

  • Uncover what our customers are thinking and turn those insights into a best-in-class user experience
  • Lead concept ideation and iteration with a team of product managers, software engineers, data scientists, user researchers and other UX designers
  • Design elegant solutions to complex interactions and workflows with a variety of low- and high-fidelity design artifacts and workshop facilitation
  • Think, design, and communicate at multiple altitudes: from information architecture to polished visual design
  • Comfortable with ambiguous, green-field work as well as iterative design
  • Collaborate with product management and design leadership to understand and prioritize the product roadmap and develop a design plan to support each initiative
  • Communicate scenarios, end-to-end experiences, interaction details, and visualization specifications to stakeholders and the teams that will be implementing them
  • Work on features and products through their entire lifecycle, including discovery (user research, competitive analysis, opportunity maps), ideation (concept generation & testing, rapid iteration), development (usability testing, design QA, artifact creation), launch, and beyond

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience
  • You have designed products that include data visualization and can demonstrate and communicate best practices
  • Experience with an evidence-based approach to product design
  • Collaborative with cross-functional teams
  • Able to iterate quickly and design within an agile development process
  • Familiar with qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • An ability to present your work with confidence
  • Ability to prioritize projects, communicate progress, and deliver on time
  • Online portfolio required for application

A plus, but not required

  • Experience with D3 or related libraries a plus, but not required
  • Comfortable working with and ML model and engineering prototypes to understand the design
  • Front end development experience
