About the Team

Opendoor is looking for a Content Designer to help people find, buy, finance, and sell homes. You’ll work on one of the newest areas of the business as a part of our Mortgage & Finance team. You’ll see how language and design can have a clear and measurable impact. If you’ve got a heart for helping homeowners understand complex ideas, a mind for translating industry jargon into conversational language, a desire to dig into consumer problems, and a spirit for testing and learning through iteration and research, then you could be just right for this role. The ideal candidate has experience working with data and has built products that provide a service.

Role Responsibilities

Work closely with product managers, engineers, product designers, researchers, operations and legal team members, and other cross-functional teams to make the complex home buying, financing, and selling choices clear, simple, and straightforward for our customers
Drive content design solutions and language systems for the Mortgage & Finance teams by writing, editing, testing and iterating on language in Opendoor product experiences—measure the impact of decisions and experiments
Use empathy, logic and data to inform language and design decisions, and to regularly present ideas and work to teammates—conduct audits, build in-product education frameworks, name features and govern terminology, inform standards for voice, tone and style
Learn and become an expert in our design systems, patterns, and content design tools and standards
Manage relationships within teams to build trust and increase the value of content design

Skills Needed

3+ years experience solving complex problems by working iteratively with product and feature teams to deliver clear content design solutions
A comfort working in ambiguous problem spaces and can break down problems with a cross-functional team
A willingness to jump in and define processes, best practices, and educate teammates on design methodologies and principles
An understanding of how to collaborate with people in a variety of different roles—including facilitating work sessions and sprints
Measured the impact of their content solutions and are comfortable testing, iterating, and synthesizing results to teammates
An excitement to work on growing team and build out an industry-leading practice

Bonus points if

Experience working in the mortgage, real estate, and/or financial space
Experience planning, facilitating, and documenting user testing sessions and UX research initiatives
Experience working with project management methodologies such as Agile and Scrum

For CO Residents Only, and in accordance with C.R.S. Sec. 8-5-101 et seq., the estimated base salary range for this role is $88,000-$155,000 per year. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position in question based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
