This role will specifically support initiatives within our Growth team. Growth’s mission is to empower the most merchants to succeed, and we deliver on this mission by bringing together Marketing and RnD teams, all supported by our high performing R&D Operations team. Supporting the Growth team needs you’ll be able to contribute to a holistic view of our business and products; how decisions are made to bring new products to market, how those products are crafted, shipped and marketed globally, and how we then report back on our success and iterate on those products and initiatives.
What Will You Do?
Work closely with leadership to understand the most important activities for the organization and help translate the “why” across Shopify and within teams
Be the subject matter expert for central tooling and process while meeting the unique needs of your product teams
Treat process as product - understand the problems of your users so that you can design and iterate with teams to create processes that remove friction and are self-sustaining
Structuring and facilitating product planning activities to identify and articulate priorities, and organize roadmaps and teams around them
Identify data and processes that could accelerate the pace of product delivery and raise the bar on quality
Building systems for constant alignment, visibility into progress and risks, early feedback and rapid decisions
Collaborating with frontline teams, Data, Marketing and UX Research connect the dots on product initiatives
Ensuring the right people are involved in critical decisions early, regardless of the team they’re on
Defining and optimizing shared practices, while understanding when and how to customize for a specific context or let teams diverge
Leading and coaching product operations managers and/or program managers
A background in product management, program management, or product operations
Comfort with B2B and D2C software business models
The ability to create order out of chaos by asking tough questions and communicating clearly
Written and verbal communication skills that translate complex ideas into messages for many different audiences
A comfort with operating autonomously and prioritizing your own time to focus on the most impactful work
Understanding when to move fast to solve an urgent problem vs. design for scale
A track record of influencing without authority
Thinking in systems while rolling up their sleeves and get things done
Show an entrepreneurial mindset to deliver impact in ambiguous environments
Build high trust relationships with senior leadership and achieve buy in
Bring with them a wealth of experience with people leadership and strategic planning to help level up the team
