About this roll*:   

Toast is looking for a Senior Product Manager to advance the systems and processes supporting Toast Hardware, a critical piece of our customer experience. In this role you will work closely with our New Product Introduction, Quality, and Hardware Product and Operations teams to plan, design, and build solutions that support our Hardware Product Lifecycle focus area. As the sole Product Manager accountable for this area, you will work closely with your Sr. Leaders to ensure the roadmap is reflective of Toast’s objectives and solves critical business problems, quickly moving to execution where you are expected to deliver with both pace and high quality to drive meaningful improvement to our internal team experience. As an expert on Product Lifecycle platforms and how critical product data flows across our stack, you will articulate scalable solutions, leading and supporting your team to enable delivery of the roadmap. This is an incredible opportunity for someone who wants to build a Product strategy from the ground up to solve immediate problems for a scaling organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with business stakeholders to understand their goals and business requirements, including proactively identifying areas of improvement in Toast’s Product operations
  • Own the develop and scoping process for products supporting internal Toasters in our Product Lifecycle Management focus area, operating as the the accountable execution leader for this critical area of Toast infrastructure
  • Estimate the impact of projects, drive prioritization across the backlog, and work with other product teams to understand and plan for dependencies and overlaps with planned work 
  • Continuously re-prioritize and groom the backlog, soliciting feedback from executive stakeholders and operational peers, to ensure high value work is being delivered consistently in an agile delivery model
  • Build strong relationships with engineering and design counterparts and work with them to translate business requirements into technical requirements, making trade-off recommendations that deliver maximum value to the business as quickly as possible  
  • Partner with engineering to mitigate quality risks and act decisively when triaging issues that impact the quality of a launch or escalate appropriately, being the main point of contact for cross-functional communication as it relates to quality issues and mitigations within your domain
  • Drive insights from data to analyze the results of projects, set realistic goals for upcoming projects and ensure business stakeholders are using shared definitions of success
  • This role is fully remote with <10% Travel required as needed to see Operations in-situ, both Domestic and International

Do you have the right ingredients*:   

  • 5+ years of product management, technology consulting, or other equivalent experience 
  • 3+ years driving the roadmap and/or implementing Product Lifecycle Management or Master Data Management systems
  • Direct experience with 1 or many of the mid-market PLM solutions including but not limited to: Propel PLM, PTC Arena/Windchill, Aras/Innovator
  • Strong working knowledge of the overlap between Product Lifecycle Management, Data Hubs, ERP systems, eCommerce product catalogs and other external Supply Chain applications. 
  • Demonstrated experience of solving complex problems using a data-driven approach
  • Demonstrated ability to gather feedback, drive consensus and manage change in situations with high ambiguity 
  • Critical thinking capabilities to see beyond the initial problem presented
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate business and technical languages
  • Architecture mindset with desire to understand how things are connected
  • Action-oriented, "ownership" mindset demonstrating willingness to accept accountability and responsibility for individual actions, and team results

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.
