Trainline is an innovative, tech business with a mission to bring together the world’s rail, coach and other travel services into one simple experience. We aim to make travel easier and more accessible, encouraging people to make more environmentally sustainable travel choices. We’re hugely proud to be the world’s leading independent rail and coach travel platform and rank among the highest-rated travel and ticketing apps globally. Today, we offer our customers travel to thousands of destinations in and across 45 countries in Europe and beyond. That’s more than £3.7 billion in ticket sales annually, and over 90 million visits to our apps and websites each month. In another major milestone, Trainline listed on the London Stock Exchange in June 2019 and is now part of the FTSE 250.
Our culture is central to our success. We’re driven to sustain our phenomenal growth from recent years, and this means we’re always working closely and collaboratively to turn our ideas into reality. It’s this sense of pace, innovating and improving pretty much everything we do, that makes Trainline so exciting and unique - we truly believe our work has a genuine impact and will change travel for the better.

We are experiencing significant growth in France, Italy and Spain. To support our ambitious commercial goals,  the business is investing heavily in our Product, led by Dave Price (a seasoned Product leader in Digital, Travel & Technology) to bring about a much stronger fit for customer booking and travel needs. In this newly created role, you’ll be working in a fully Agile cluster alongside Engineering, Design, Research, Commercial and Product colleagues to help us revolutionise the travel experience and develop a market leading product and features. The goals are ambitious and the mandate is clear – to make travel more personal.

We’re obsessed with delivering value to our customers day-to-day. A key customer need is for greater Flexibility and Control after they purchase, with expectation for relevant live information and notifications and great capabilities to change and modify their plans.

As Product Manager, Europe, this role is responsible for the cross-functional engineering squad who are building out these capabilities to fit with our vastly improved new proposition in the product. Reporting into the Product Director for Europe, you will have full ownership for the roadmap and goals associated with OKRs you set with your team. Getting to know our customers and supporting Trainline colleagues is key to our success, therefore occasional travel to London, Milan and Barcelona is required.

We work at speed shipping new products every fortnight and employ a ‘build/test/learn’ mentality around our product development. To this end, you’ll proactively seek out and solve the toughest problems we’re told can’t be done, and deliver game-changing solutions for our customers. This is a truly career defining role for someone passionate about product management looking for an opportunity to disrupt and define a product that will change the way people travel impacting millions of people every day.

Experience
We’re looking for creative big thinkers with small egos to achieve our ambitious plans. Most importantly, you’ll bring strong product management experience from a complex, consumer-focused business ideally in Ecommerce or Tech. Your passion for building amazing products that people love within a fast-paced environment goes without saying, and you should have a meaningful tale to tell about spotting and executing on opportunities whether to delight the user or for commercial gain.

You’ll be used to putting yourself in the role of the customer and gathering insights to truly understand what value looks like to our users (as well as those who are not!). Looking across your expertise within the product ecosystem, your credentials around helping shape customer experience through research and user testing is essential. You must also bring experience of working closely within an Agile development team prioritizing work and setting sprint goals as appropriate.

You’ll understand the importance of making robust data-driven decisions and will bring a good balance of quantitative and qualitative skills as well as a track record of working with rapid, iterative “customer led” design and development processes. Further, working from inception through to testing and deployment, you will be used to measuring and communicating the outcomes of developments to allow the business to learn from both success and failure.
We value open expression at Trainline, we believe it’s the diversity of experience, backgrounds and perspectives of our employees that makes us who we are. We encourage everybody to play a part in changing the way people travel across the world.
