About this roll* (Responsibilities) 

As a Toaster on the hardware product management team you will be challenged to develop next generation Toast hardware products that power our restaurant partners’ businesses. On the product management team, you will interface with other Toast teams across Product, Engineering, UX, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Operations and Customer Success to build and shape innovative products. You will have the opportunity to directly interface with our restaurant partners (CIOs, CTOs, CMOs, managers and employees) to gather feedback on product enhancements, issues and usability in order to inspire and inform how our products help our customers to delight their guests, do what they love, and thrive!

What you will do:

• Develop the next generation of Toast Point of Sale terminals, handhelds, printers and payment devices for our restaurant customers.
• Be the voice of the customer. Understand the functional, social and emotional needs of users and lead the design and development of products that will delight our customers.
• Develop and continually refine Product Requirement Documents to guide hardware development and clearly communicate product definition across engineering and supplier teams.
• Drive decisions on products and features by balancing insights from customers, data from Toast systems and input from various Toast teams.
• Manage vendors and suppliers through the product development process. Comfortable participating in evening/morning calls with overseas suppliers.
• Analyze the competitive landscape and develop strategies to build innovative and cost-competitive devices that will continue to differentiate Toast hardware in the markets and segments we serve.
• Lead by influence. Work closely with Toast Product, UX, Engineering and Operations teams to effectively guide all aspects of product development from discovery to launch.
• Collaborate across the organization. Develop working partnerships with Marketing, Finance, Operations, Customer Success, SW Product, FinTech and other Toast teams to effectively lead projects that drive to successful business outcomes. 
• Manage multiple projects and fulfill product requests within tight timelines.
• Analyze and track product KPIs to understand how hardware products are performing in the field post launch to address issues and uncover new product or feature opportunities. 

Do you have the right ingredients?

• A minimum 2 years Product Management experience working in a fast-paced hardware development environment with multiple product launches
• Strong understanding of hardware product development processes, from market research, user study, design, prototyping, production and post production quality support
• Experience building strategic partnerships with hardware vendors and suppliers
• Proven experience in bridging the technical and business aspects of hardware projects
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to demonstrate ideas visually
• Proven time management, prioritization and organizational skills (must be able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines)
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Experience in user experience design and research is a plus
• Experience in data mining and/or querying skills is a plus
• Experience using Splunk, Coda, Jira, Salesforce is a plus
• Experience with POS systems or payment devices is a plus
• Experience working with restaurants is a plus
