THE ROLE AND YOUR IMPACT AT TIER

The Product Operations team at Tier is responsible for the connection between product, engineering, data and core internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and scalable product development. 

The Dir. of Product Operations leads the portfolio view of our Products as well as strategically important topics that require strong product strategy, program management and high cross-functional stakeholder engagement. The role leads a team of Product Operations Managers that work within the Product organization Product Managers to ensure we are the highest performing team we can be. Works closely with the CPO and CTO, and the Direct reports of CPO and CTO to define and communicate solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Product Operations Managers and ensure the connection between product, engineering, data and core internal stakeholders enables efficient & scalable product development
• Serve as the central interface between all stakeholders and the topic team to ensure aligned strategy, roadmap & execution. 
• Facilitate gathering of stakeholder requirements for company critical topics and ensure the competency is strong within the Product Operations teams
• Collect and analyze Topic requirements (why and what) of internal teams, especially the three key stakeholders (riders, cities, company) 
• Overlay emerging industry trends, innovation opportunities and competitive threats. Develop own elevated ideas from the stakeholder themes and recommend them to stakeholders.
• Consolidate discussions with stakeholders into a holistic and prioritized requirements overview, informed by the constraints of topic (e.g. feasibility, cost, timeline).
• Enable the effective delivery of the Product Plans by scaling the product discovery/development and communications in collaboration with the required stakeholder team.
• Enable the transparence and clarity of internal stakeholder requirements
• Jointly decide on build vs. buy vs. partner, together with the Product teams
• Acquire key information (e.g. feasibility, cost, timeline) leveraging the expertise and network of the topic teams.
• Synthesize information into development discovery
• Delivery
• Create functional strategies, specific objectives and structures (key stakeholder) to support the delivery of the roadmap.
• Actively work with the Key topic teams to ensure execution is to plan.
• Align with key stakeholder to nominate clear PoC per stream or improvement projects and hand over coordination
• Measure performance
• Understand and monitor business performance of the topic (e.g. LTV, Hardware cost recovery time), together with the Financial BP for Product, from stakeholders’ perspective
• Communicate results and moderate discussions
• Be involved in and facilitate all relevant topic discussions.
• Align topic product roadmap with senior management.
• Facilitate the required meetings
• Communicate plans internally to provide transparency for the entire company (e.g. in All-Hands meeting).

Organizational setup and stakeholders

• Direct report of Chief Product Officer
• Requires direct transparency on discussions in cross-functional swarms
• Stakeholder teams to collect input from and align with:

• Riders: Research & Insights, Riders swarm
• Cities: Research & Insights, Public Policy, City swarm
• TIER:
• Operations: Operational Excellence swarm
• Commercial: Growth (e.g. on competition & market topics), Marketing (e.g. on visuals)
• Finance (e.g. requirements to reach target TAM)
• Integrations team/ M&A

Development path

The development path for this role is towards “VP Product Operations.  It follows the defined justification for levels in Product for all roles, driven by the complexity of 3 topics: scope, stakeholders, team. Current timeframe for the role to require a VP is 18months/2years.

• You have worked in both a Consulting and Start up environment and are resilient to stress
• You are a great communicator both verbally and written English
