Must have skills:

  • Proficiency in Design Tools: Expertise in Figma, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop is essential for creating compelling visual assets and maintaining design consistency across our brand.
  • Understanding of Motion Design: A solid grasp of motion design principles and an interest in implementing animations to enhance user engagement and storytelling is crucial.

At GoCardless, you'll experience a rare combination of a broad design landscape and substantial autonomy, empowering you to take creative risks and innovate without the constraints typically found in larger organisations.
  • Passion for Design and Visual Culture: Your obsession with the cutting edge of design and visual culture drives your understanding of brand identity. You appreciate the depth of design principles that extend beyond mere aesthetics, recognizing brand as a crucial component of user experience and business strategy.
  • Clarity from Complexity: You possess the ability to distil complex and ambiguous propositions into simple, impactful, and user-centric designs. This skill is essential in creating effective solutions that resonate with our audience and enhance their experience with our products.
  • Enthusiasm for Digital Innovation: You are excited by digital products and technological advancements. Your enthusiasm for the possibilities they present fuels your creativity and approach to design, enabling you to envision innovative solutions that push boundaries and elevate user engagement.

  • Craftsmanship and Attention to Detail: You demonstrate a profound respect for the art of design, showcasing exceptional attention to detail in every aspect of your work. You interrogate your design choices with precision, ensuring that each element serves a purpose and aligns with our brand ethos.
  • Business Acumen: You possess a keen understanding of the balance between desirability and deliverability. You are always mindful of company objectives, knowing when it is appropriate to ship a product and when to pause for iteration. Your design decisions are informed not only by creativity but also by business goals and user needs.
  • Project and Stakeholder Management: You are adept at managing multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously. You maintain a clear focus on agreed deadlines, ensuring that your contributions align seamlessly with team and company timelines.
  • Adaptive Problem Solving: As an adaptive, self-starting designer, you approach challenges with a flexible mindset. You are eager to experiment with new tools and emerging technologies to enhance your design processes and workflows, continuously striving for improvement.
  • Team Collaboration and Humility: You value humility and appreciate the power of teamwork. As a true team player, you are willing to engage in all aspects of the design process, including the less glamorous tasks that contribute to the overall success of the team.
  • Experience and Portfolio: You bring 3+ years of experience from either an in-house team (particularly in tech, payments, or fintech) or a respected branding agency. Your strong portfolio reflects a diverse range of projects across different media, showcasing your versatility and expertise in brand design.

Base salary ranges may vary and are determined by things like geography, level of experience, interview assessment and parity between you and fellow employees at GoCardless doing similar work. Please note that whilst we strive to offer competitive compensation, there is no guarantee that an offer will reach the upper limit of the stated range.
