Web Product Designer - Marketing Technology

📍London | 💰 £70,000-£90,000 (optional depending on team) + Benefits

What you'll be working on

  • You'll be part of the team that builds our website and marketing tools. You will make sure that the website's design complements a cohesive overall Monzo experience and delivers on incremental steps to help the team head in this direction.
  • Your team will be a cross-functional squad. You'll be responsible for all design artefacts produced, from initial discovery and user journey mapping through to the execution of final UI design details. You will use design methods and practice to guide the team toward good customer outcomes.
  • You'll understand the customers you're designing for. Whether it's joining user research sessions, learning from previous insights, reading data reports or running your own lightweight research and analysis, you'll strive to understand the what, why and how of the problems you're solving to ensure we don't just ship the thing right, but we ship the right thing.
  • You'll collaborate regularly using clear communication and documentation skills. You'll work closely with the product manager, web engineers, search engine optimisation experts, user researchers and writers. You will involve your team to ensure that they aren't just shipping great designs but that you have deeply involved them throughout the design process.
  • You'll execute (and advocate for) polished, intuitive and accessible web user experiences. You're pragmatic and able to balance the ideal experience with knowing where and when to make scoping trade-offs based on technical constraints, experimentation strategy or business risk.
  • You’ll help raise the bar for design at Monzo. We’re a small but mighty team where every designer plays a critical role in improving our community of practice—whether that’s through improving our craft skills or leading rituals or giving great feedback.
  • You'll regularly work with a design manager, tech lead and product manager. This relationship is to help make sure long-term strategy, business goals, and experience quality are aligned and that there are healthy opportunities for visibility and feedback.

Your day-to-day

  • Monzo.com is the start of a journey for many new customers, and we must keep it up to date and fresh. You will help design a best-in-class marketing site to get customers excited and informed about joining Monzo.
  • Working with SEO, data analysts and writers to ensure we optimise the website for conversion. By A/B testing different designs and content, you will help new customers get the details they need while ensuring we drive good business outcomes.
  • You will make sure that all our mobile-first design patterns are turned into components and fed into our design system.
  • You'll manage and evolve the web design system and have an opinion on how the broader Monzo design system evolves based on the needs of the medium and the discipline.
  • The website is also a destination for our help pages and blog. You will design clear user journeys to help people get the information they want with the least amount of friction.
  • You will also support the marketing content team by creating assets for the blog and pages they maintain.

You should apply if

  • You understand that good design is not about trends but is built on top of principles and tradeoffs. You make well-reasoned design decisions always advocating for the best possible user experience.
  • You've contributed and supported a web design system. It would be good if you had created the foundations of a design system, but this isn't essential.
  • You have worked on/lead the design of a web based product website
  • You’re passionate about inclusive design and accessibility, and you’ll design with all our users in mind.
  • You have worked in a team that uses A/B testing and conversation rate optimisation to get the best business and customer outcomes.
  • You care about the UI design details but are also comfortable zooming out, seeing the broader picture and connecting the dots to create a cohesive overall experience.
  • You’re passionate about sharing your knowledge, and raising the bar for design practice at Monzo. Previous experience mentoring designers is a big plus.
  • You understand that writing is designing, you’re a confident writer, and the copy in your screens is never an afterthought.
