Visual Product Designer

We’re looking for a Visual Product Designer to bring the Datadog user interface to the next level. Your role in a nutshell will be focused on visual design, advanced prototyping, animation and working with UX Engineers on advanced interactions. A passion for building technical tools and scalable design systems is strongly desired. Our designers build the UI that developers around the world rely on: real-time dashboards, data visualizations, data-driven notebooks, core site functionality, and the design systems and tools that power it. Their work makes the data we collect easy for users to understand and act on.

You’ll join at an ideal time to make a big impact. We are expanding globally, designing and building multiple new products. You’ll be working in tandem with UX Designers, taking part in Research and early design iterations before leading the visual iterations and execution phase. 

What You’ll Do: 

• Collaborate with Product Designers & Engineering teams to craft beautiful experiences though the use of colors, typography, hierarchy, advanced prototyping or microinteractions and more
• Transform large and complex datasets into elegant and easy to use interfaces
• Focus on creating polished, high quality product experiences
• Continue to evolve Datadog’s visual language by working with our DesignOps team to ship products and features that make Datadog better
• Work with product managers, UX Engineers, and data scientists to understand how our customers use Datadog and what they need to succeed
• Communicate both your design work and the support for your design decisions across the company
• Work closely with engineering teams to understand how your designs will be built

Who You Are: 

• You have 3+ years of experience in digital product design with a focus on User Interface Design
• Your portfolio includes strong visual design work for digital product design or web applications
• You are an excellent visual and written communicator, able to clearly communicate your design work and the support for your design decisions
• You have experience with advanced prototyping tools (e.g. Principle, Framer, Sketch, Figma)
• You understand systems thinking and component-based design patterns
• You give and receive feedback well, supporting and improving the work of your colleagues as well as your own
• You want to work in a rapidly changing, high-growth startup environment
