The team
Our Product Experience team - Design, Information, and Insights - focuses on our customers and their business needs. We contribute from the concept all the way to the building of world-class product experiences by partnering with Product Managers, Program Managers, Software Engineers and other cross-functional teams. Together, we are a team of craftspeople who aim to make the complex look easy. We employ insights, pixels, and words to solve big problems and make delightful experiences.

This position
As the Vice President of Product Design and Research, you will direct and manage a team of designers and deliver elegant, customer-focused web and/or mobile experiences for millions of DocuSign users around the globe. Your team will be responsible for the user experience, user interface, interaction design, and visual design across multiple product surfaces. You are a talented, passionate, efficient leader with strong analytic skills and a knack for persuasive storytelling. You collaborate with colleagues with ease and bring cross-functional teams together around a common vision. You welcome feedback from a wide variety of stakeholders, are comfortable contributing to research plans, and tap your intuition to make the right decision in the absence of definitive facts. You adeptly balance business needs with simple, engaging, user-centered solutions. You are proficient at working in an Agile/Scrum product development environment that is cross-functional and highly collaborative.

This position is a people manager role reporting to the VP, Product Experience and is designated Flex.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with other senior cross-functional partners to tie business and company goals back into the design organization
  • Set design vision and advocate for design at all levels of the organization
  • Design and organize a global organization with strong delivery process and project management
  • Define how designers work together and interface with product managers and engineers
  • Build and lead a high quality team
  • Leverage design research and insights and inform UX/UI decisions

Basic qualifications

  • 15+ years of designing consumer, enterprise and/or mobile user experiences
  • 8+ years of experience managing and mentoring managers of individual contributor designers
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in a design-related field, or comparable work experience 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated track record of senior design leadership roles within a scaled SaaS environment
  • Experience with lean UX, rapid customer innovation and iterative design
  • Experience facilitating design thinking workshops with cross functional teams to frame complex problem areas and generate game-changing innovation opportunities
  • Experience leveraging data and analytics to drive design decisions for B2B and/or B2C products
  • Experience collaborating with teams across different geographic locations to build and deploy solutions
  • Specialization in interaction design, visual design and design thinking, with experience playing a role in prototyping and user research
  • Deep thinker and natural communicator who can tell compelling stories that inspire action
  • Possesses an online portfolio or work samples showcasing extensive experience leading teams to design large scale B2C and B2B products (please add website to system and/or upload work samples when applying)
  • Proven successful recruiter and team builder who has built and led high quality design teams at scale
  • Possesses taste and product sense knowing what constitutes great design

Based on Colorado law, the following details are for Colorado individuals only: Colorado base salary range: $237,900 - $336,000 and eligible for bonus, equity and benefits at https://www.docusign.com/company/benefits
