About Hearth
Hearth is a Fintech company helping home improvement contractors grow and manage their business. Our SaaS platform provides over 14,000 contractors the financial tools they need to close more business, including financing solutions, invoicing, payment collections, insurance products, all in one, modern system designed specifically for the home improvement industry.

Backed by 8VC, Founders Fund, and other prominent leaders in Silicon Valley, Hearth has raised over $50M and is one of the fastest growing companies in the home improvement space.

About Hearth

Hearth is a fast-growing Series B vertical SaaS business that makes it easy for SMB’s in home improvement to win jobs and run their businesses. We exist because while small businesses power much of the American economy, 50% of contractors in the trades fail within 5 years. We are here to flip the odds. Our vision is to empower and elevate the small business entrepreneurs in home services, who in turn make the American Dream a reality for millions of homeowners.

Over the last six years, we’ve built an end-to-end platform for Pros, including customer financing, digital quotes, contracts, invoicing, payments, and banking. Hearth’s technology provides a seamless experience that helps contractors drive more sales and operate their companies, without being distracted from their craft.

In that time we’ve funded over $500,000,000+ in incremental projects for our customers, powered over half a billion dollars in quotes, and generated hundreds of millions in approved contracts and payments. We are just getting started.

Backed by 8VC, Human Capital, and other prominent leaders in Silicon Valley, Hearth has raised over $60M and is one of the fastest-growing companies in the home improvement space. Our runway is strong at 20-28+ months and we’re on a path to profitability over 2023.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for the right product marketing leader to join our team and help us unlock our next level of growth, to $100M in ARR. This individual will run our marketing team and operations, partnering closely with the CEO and peers on the executive team. We have gone from “zero to one”, then “one to ten”, and are now going to “ten to one hundred.”

The right person will have a specific marketing “superpower” - product marketing and positioning.

The key objective is distilling Hearth’s platform messaging and positioning in the market, moving us from “customer financing product” to “platform solution” and aligning the entire organization to ultimately drive platform activation and engagement.

Secondarily, the right VP of Product Marketing is an exceptional leader, with the ability to recruit and manage great people as we scale, specifically bringing in a demand-generation specialist to drive incremental lead generation and revenue growth.

On a personal level, the ideal candidate is lit up by our mission of helping small business entrepreneurs in the blue-collar home improvement industry.

Key Objectives and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement Hearth’s platform messaging across the entire company, creating compelling positioning for our offerings in the marketplace, and aligning the entire organization against this messaging.

  • Redesign Hearth’s messaging throughout the entire loop – from top-of-funnel customer acquisition to onboarding to platform engagement and new product discovery. Ultimately, your efforts will drive conversion increases at the top of the funnel against ideal customer segments, as well as platform activation and engagement. You are no stranger to “owning” a number in this pursuit.

  • Run the marketing team and organization from a P&L and execution level. Lead a data-driven testing culture while constantly evaluating opportunities for lift across your team.

  • Recruit Great talent as needed. Manage existing agency relationships.

  • Own and accelerate our product/lifecycle marketing strategy and motion to drive product “cross-sell”, activation, and ultimately platform engagement.

  • Run and “own” a customer insights flywheel in partnership with Product, CS, and Sales in order to continuously refine our ICP segments and distill compelling copy around customer pain points and desires as we expand our technology.

  • Strengthen the meaning of the “Hearth” brand in the market by way of telling customer stories, reviews and testimonials, and general word of mouth.

  • Serve as a key member of Hearth’s executive leadership team, partnering with the CEO and peer executives to scale the business.

  • Drive revenue growth by recruiting a skilled demand generation specialist, who will own all aspects of marketing funnel performance, working in lockstep with Sales.

About You:

  • You have 5-8+ years of software marketing experience, including ideally 3+ years specifically of product marketing, and managing a P/L.

  • You have 4-5+ years of experience in high-growth SMB SaaS startups and developed a playbook for customers with ACV’s of $1k - $5k, $250K - $5M in revenue, and/or 1-20 employees.

  • You live, breathe, love, and understand product marketing and positioning. You obsess over understanding ideal customer segments better than they know themselves, crafting value props, and creating messaging that inflects the curve in terms of conversion, activation, and engagement. You are not a stranger to “owning” a number around such metrics.

  • You have a strong track record in determining ICP segments, distilling customer pain points and desires, and crafting compelling messaging that cuts through the noise and resonates emotionally with ideal, target customers. You are able to re-engineer messaging and positioning throughout the entire customer journey and experience, from top of funnel to product.

  • You have a playbook for driving activation and engagement, growing accounts, and retaining accounts. You’re driven to authentically build relationships with customers to drive LTV while delivering against clear, quantitative goals.

  • You are a skillful executive, able to work cross-departmentally to execute initiatives to completion. Working with the Product and Sales leaders is second-nature to you, and you are comfortable guiding the organization to align the customer experience from the top-of-funnel all the way to renewal.

  • You are not “above” doing the work. You are scrappy, hungry, and driven by the need to get a big win for yourself as well as a genuine desire to help the customer.

  • As an executive, you are a self-starter with a sense of urgency, results orientation, and a high standard of excellence for work quality. You are able to drive strategy development down to tactical execution.

  • You are deeply analytical and data-driven. You approach problems from a hypothesis-testing, experimental perspective. You have basic modeling ability. You are able to back into forecasts and projections, and generally show how your initiatives are generating business value.

  • You are an excellent leader and people manager with an innate ability to build culture, identify and resolve challenges, and develop other leaders to create leverage.

  • You have experience growing SaaS businesses from $20mm ARR to double or more.

  • You think from first principles and by nature are a problem-solver.

Who this is NOT for:

  • BigCo marketers who have not driven the initial growth of the business themselves

  • Executives who are “above” doing the work themselves and need large teams and fat budgets to drive results

  • Marketers who have no real experience owning and committing to a quantitative commitment (product activation, ARR, MQL’s, revenue retention, etc.)

  • No real experience selling to small SMB’s with our ACVs

  • Proficient generalists who do not have deep, top 5% skills in product marketing/positioning, demand generation, or both
