UX/UI Designer, Materials Engineering - Temporary

UI/UX DESIGNER, MATERIALS ENGINEERING - TEMPORARY

The UI/UX Designer for Materials Engineering is responsible for developing and improving the software that enables SpaceX’s NDE team members to improve their business processes and workflows. As an experienced UI/UX developer you will help architect and develop software tools and applications with the intent to automate many NDE processes across SpaceX. You will be expected to have solid business acumen and the ability to turn requirements into working systems and design/code. You will see the impact of the software UI/UX you develop in the efficiency gains the NDE department realizes from using your software.

Aerospace experience is not required to be successful here - rather we look for smart, motivated, collaborative engineers who love solving problems and want to make an impact on an inspiring mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work directly with both internal NDE team and external vendors, deep dive into requirements, and design efficient UI/UX to build a cutting-edge unified analysis software tool
• Organize and conduct testing of to assess end user experience and ease of design
• Build storyboards to conceptualize designs to accurately convey project plans to internal and external stakeholders
• Design the aesthetics to be implemented within the final product, from the layout menus and drop-down options to colors and fonts allowing for interface edits as needed
• Own all aspects of software UI/UX engineering and product development

POSITION DETAILS:

This is a temporary position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate.

• LENGTH OF POSITION: 3 Months
• LOCATION: Hawthorne
• SHIFT: 1st shift

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or scientific discipline
• 3+ years of professional UI/UX software development experience
• Experience in troubleshooting HTML/CSS
• Experience creating storyboard and website mapping

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Proficient with visual design programs such as Adobe Photoshop and others
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment to create top-performing interfaces for clients
• Experience with coding and ability to troubleshoot using HTML, CSS and comparable languages
• Continued education and research into UX trends and current design strategy and technologies
• Professional written and interpersonal skills when communicating with customers and clients
• Ability to prioritize and manage several milestones and projects efficiently
• Account for challenges using problem-solving skills and seek to optimize data for the best possible outcome
• Experience creating storyboards and website mapping
• Production-quality application development experience strongly preferred
• Experience working on projects for operations, or manufacturing environment
• Ability to write clear and concise technical documentation
• Ability to write clear and concise design mockups and prototypes with features
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment both independently and as a team
• Project management experience, particularly related to creating or overhauling cross-functional business processes in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with data visualization tools
• Advanced data analytics skills to support development work

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
