  • JOB TYPE: Freelance, Contract Position (no agencies/C2C - see notes below)
  • LOCATION: Remote - Work from anywhere (TimeZone: CST | Partial overlap)
  • HOURLY RANGE: Our client is looking to pay $65 – $75/hr
  • ESTIMATED DURATION: 40h/week - Long term

THE OPPORTUNITY

Requirements:

  • Ability to synthesize complex, high quantity and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve business problems 

  • Clear understanding of the cloud, AI, mobile applications, their dependencies on each other and their responsibility for delivering exceptional user experiences
  • Experience with cleaning and analyzing large data sets for complex quantitative studies 

  • Experience in designing IoT & AI driven experiences

  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of tools, techniques, and processes to gather and report data.  

  • Knowledge of, and ability to use, strategies, techniques and tools for effective communication of technical ideas to various audiences 

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly at a management level, with excellent written and oral presentation skills
  • Comfort working with code and solving technical challenges, and eagerness to extend these skills a plus 

  • Strong understanding of database technologies and ability to write code to gather, clean, and format data. 

  • Experience with GraphQL and Power BI a nice to have, but be willing to learn.

What you’ll be working on

Our client is looking for a Design Researcher with experience in quantitative methods to join their team.  

You are passionate about problem-solving and using data to identify and prioritize solutions. You have experience using quantitative research methods on a product development team to glean user insights and identify opportunities. You know how to energize cross-functional teams around user-centered problems and opportunities. You are skilled at creating meaningful analysis with large, complex datasets. You are adept at using query languages, data extraction and preparation tools, data modeling, and data visualization.  You have strong attention to detail and are at your best when tackling new problems and supporting innovation. 

  • Partner with project teams to conduct research using mixed quantitative and qualitative methods. 

  • Advise teams on user research methods such as: surveys, data analysis, interviewing, usability testing (formative/summative), and heuristic reviews. 

  • Work with Product teams to determine relevant measures of success to meet their goals, and guide good usage of outcome driven metrics. 

  • Query and analyze data to help expand their understanding of the user experience, trends in the data, and put data into context to us make decisions about development and prioritization
  • Synthesize results, using statistical models when needed, and make recommendations on go forward plan. 

  • Create and communicate easy-to-use visuals (e.g. dashboard, report card, etc.) to share research findings with teams. 

  • Reinforce the use of standardized data assets and metrics when relevant.  

  • Collaborate with qualitative teammates to deliver user-centered research that will inform product and design decision-making.

The right person will use their intellect, insight, and ability to build creative solutions with stakeholders and colleagues while embracing a collaborative mindset.

  • Develop a clear understanding and compassion for their end users, and use this as a lens to prioritize all features and work 

  • Deliver creative solutions especially when there is complexity that needs to be worked around to deliver features quickly, especially as they test and learn 

  • Query and analyze data to help expand their understanding of the user experience, trends in the data, and put data into context to us make decisions about development and prioritization

  • Collaborating with team members and stakeholders to drive development of deliverables and strategy

  • Research, aggregate and analyze data; synthesize large quantities of information; extracting meaningful insights and making recommendations to mobile and product teams

  • Assess user and business problems critically, structuring analyses, applying analytical frameworks, and conceptualizing strategy development

  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of pet and IoT industry landscape and trends
