Company Description

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.

To solve this problem, we expanded into software and built integrated solutions to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.

Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.

Job Description

We are looking for a passionate UX Research Coordinator to join the Appointments & Conversations teams at Square. The Appointments team within Square focuses on designing simple, yet powerful solutions for the vertical of service-based businesses that rely on scheduling and selling their time (e.g. salons, spas, fitness studios). The Conversations team at Square enables communication between buyers and sellers through Square Messages - a hub from which they can text, email, and transact with buyers, all within their Square account and with the support of Square Assistant.

You'll report to the UX Research Lead for Appointments & Conversations and join our growing research team. You will help scale and broaden the impact of our research efforts by supporting both ongoing projects and overarching operations. This foundational role will also establish and support the ideal participant experience, connecting Square with the sellers we serve.

You will:

  • Develop a successful operating model for how research and partners source and recruit participants for research projects.
  • Screen candidates for availability, interest, and appropriate qualifications.
  • Coordinate study logistics, which could include scheduling participants, distributing surveys, managing fieldwork, and handling incentives.
  • Escalate risks when plans shift, proactively manage expectations, and suggest solutions to help the team address any changes that arise
  • Improve and standardize research processes, including tools, templates, procedures, and schedules.
  • Become familiar with online research platforms and project management tools used by our team to best support research projects - eventually being a primary contact for questions or assistance
  • Support our work with all vendors and research tools, including procurement and new vendor onboarding
  • Ensure research insights are widely communicated and accessible throughout the team and the organization

Qualifications

You have:

  • 3+ years of experience in research operations, logistics roles (e.g. project manager), or a similar role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and can quickly establish an easy rapport with anyone and everyone.
  • A strength in being efficient, organized, and managing research processes (or similar) from beginning to end.

Even better:

  • Direct experience working with market or UX researchers
  • Working knowledge of online research platforms, customer relationship management software, and collaboration tools (e.g. User Interviews, Dscout, Dovetail)
  • Personal connection to small businesses or the beauty or fitness industry
