An overview of this role

The UX Research (UXR) team provides critical insights to drive user-focused innovation and guide decisions from design to product strategy. The Research Operations (ReOps) team supports UXR by ensuring they have the tools, resources, and processes needed to conduct high-quality research efficiently, allowing researchers to focus on delivering impactful insights.

As part of the ReOps team, you will help UX Researchers work more effectively by providing support in areas like participant recruitment, tool and resource management, process optimization, compliance, training, and logistics.

Examples of ReOps Projects:

  • Building a participant panel for AI research
  • Streamlining low-risk ReOps processes with self-serve tools
  • Recruiting hard-to-reach industry leaders for strategic research on new features
  • This work ensures researchers can focus on creating exceptional user experiences and driving product innovation

What you'll do

  • Oversee all aspects of participant recruitment for UX research, including sourcing, outreach, screening, scheduling, managing participation agreements, ensuring privacy compliance, and handling incentives
  • Continuously assess team needs, identify gaps, and implement improvements to research operations and processes
  • Maintain accurate and standardized documentation, including the UX Research Operations handbook and templates
  • Work closely with Product Designers, Product Managers, and UX Researchers to understand their recruitment needs and ensure successful delivery
  • Manage relationships with external providers, such as recruitment platforms and digital rewards services
  • Handle provisioning and deprovisioning of access to ReOps tools
  • Support participant and customer privacy by addressing data requests responsibly
  • Assist the Senior ReOps Coordinator with panel management, repository oversight, and other operational tasks

What you'll bring

  • Relevant Experience: You have experience in UX Research Operations or a similar coordination role in a research environment.
  • Career Focus: You’re passionate about growing your career in UX Research Operations at GitLab, understanding that this role does not lead to a UX Researcher position.
  • Organizational Skills: You excel at managing multiple research operations projects simultaneously with efficiency and precision.
  • Strong Communicator: Your written and verbal communication skills enable you to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external participants.
  • Process Improvement: You’re excited to enhance our research operations processes and bring prior experience in process development for research teams.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: You’re a self-starter with a creative approach to problem-solving, attention to detail, and a focus on results.
  • Alignment with Values: GitLab’s values of Collaboration, Results, Efficiency, Diversity, Iteration, and Transparency resonate deeply with you.
  • Self-Learner: You thrive in a culture that encourages self-learning and self-service, embracing these principles as part of your daily work.

How GitLab will support you

Please note that we welcome interest from candidates with varying levels of experience; many successful candidates do not meet every single requirement. Additionally, studies have shown that people from underrepresented groups are less likely to apply to a job unless they meet every single qualification.
