About the role: 

As a UX Design Manager, you are a passionate and business focused design leader who thrives in uncertainty and ambiguity.  You will represent the voice of the customer and the voice of the business, and lead  a team to build industry-changing user experiences.

You will be proactive in solving problems and collaborating with partners, and hold a high bar for the quality of design. You will utilize intuition, experience, competitive analysis, and data to pioneer change and improvement.   You will lead a small team of product designers collaborating with product managers, software engineers and users to shape the next version of car buying.

You will focus on execution, customer value and impact.   You will be innovative, creative and willing to challenge the status quo.  You will be a leader that values and works well in an autonomous, agile environment.

What you’ll do:

  • Be a champion for user-centered design methods.
  • Operate as a player / coach recruiting, mentoring and growing a team, while getting your hands dirty designing simple yet powerful interfaces.
  • Lead the design strategy for web and iOS applications that will scale and differentiate our brand.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners (product, engineering, brand and marketing) to ensure that product development and delivery is consistent with strategic insights.
  • Identify areas of opportunity to improve the user experience within our product offering and represent them with conviction.
  • Act as a voice of the customer and business to help set the strategy and priority of features within our roadmap.

What we’re looking for:

  • 2+ years of people management experience with a proven track record of sourcing and growing talent.
  • 5+ years of professional UX design experience.
  • Proven success leading teams through successful product launches.
  • Experience with design tools like Figma.
  • Effective communication, persuasion and facilitation skills.
  • The desire to win without ego.

  • Web, mobile web and native app experience.
