UI/UX DESIGNER [Remote]

• JOB TYPE: Freelance, Contract Position (no agencies/C2C - see notes below)
• LOCATION: Remote - Work from anywhere (TimeZone: EST | Partial overlap)
• HOURLY RANGE: Our client is looking to pay $75 – $100/hr
• ESTIMATED DURATION: 15h/week - Short term

THE OPPORTUNITY

JOB SUMMARY 

Our client is looking for a UI/UX designer independent contractor to join us part-time for approximately  3 months. This person will support multiple projects and work closely with design researchers and strategists. The specific projects are anticipated to include: 

1. UI/UX prototyping for a re-design of a web interface including data visualization that  facilitates decision making and optimization of a robotic system 
2. UI/UX prototyping and design of an analytics platform for industrial building equipment and service business 
3. General UX design support: Create journeymaps, presentations, environment maps,  wireframes, and other UX design assets in collaboration with a team

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Below are some of the responsibilities the UI/UX designer is expected to do. 

• Leverage a human-centered design process to deliver an easy-to-use user interface and  user experience 
• Understand customer research and convert needs and opportunities into concept designs  - Work with researchers to create personas, scenarios, and user stories 
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mock-ups 
• Create data-based visualizations that are easy to understand, actionable and enable faster  decision making for the target users 
• Conduct UX audits of existing platforms 
• Guide or participate in qualitative and quantitative user testing to validate design  assumptions 
• Manage or improve on provided design system 
• Design for accessibility standards 
• Ensure products are tested with users and validated against business goals

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL SETS 

Below are the qualifications expected of the UI/UX designer: 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, human-computer interaction, interaction design,  graphic design, or a related field and/or a relevant bootcamp 
• A portfolio or samples of work showing experience creating excellent early-stage user centered design concepts and prototypes 
• Working knowledge of UX and UI design principles 
• Experience with user testing and usability analysis 
• Good written and verbal communication skills 
• Able to engage with cross-functional team, collaborate, and educate on best practices and  design choices 
• Eagerness to deeply understand the design challenge, target users, business objectives  and decisions to be made 
• Ability to be flexible, take initiative and bring creativity to technical design challenges - Able to work in a fast-paced sprint environment and deliver quality results on time - Proficient in Figma

Additional desired qualifications include: 

• Experience working with mechanical engineering, construction, manufacturing, or supply chain environments 
• Flexible in education requirements based on portfolio of work and experience

LOCATION
