Datadog’s Writing team is the public voice of Datadog. Our team of technical content writers and editors runs Datadog's main blog (a.k.a., "The Monitor"), and we provide editorial support for teams across the company. We value accuracy, technical depth, and readability. As Writing Team Lead, you will manage and grow a team responsible for developing in-depth, compelling, and actionable content for our customers, a highly technical audience of engineers and developers.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture—the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage and mentor a team of 3–6 writers and editors. This includes: helping them make and maintain effective content plans; formally supporting their growth and development; enforcing deadlines; assisting with problem-solving; and overseeing and balancing workloads
  • Partner with writers and other stakeholders to align content priorities and help set team goals
  • Collaborate with the greater Writing team to develop and improve team standards and processes
  • Edit or write articles for the Datadog blog and other assets as requested by teams including Community, Product, Engineering, and others.

Who You Are:

  • You have experience as an editor and/or writer in the technology industry, with samples of your work to share
  • You have managed at least 1 writer or editorial intern and have experience providing editorial feedback, transforming complex topics to clear prose
  • You are able to craft superior, technically precise prose and elevate the work of your colleagues to a similar level. This includes improving the quality of the writing itself, as well as identifying technical passages that need clarification, revision, or deeper exploration
  • You follow the latest trends in the cloud monitoring space
  • You are familiar with modern web application development methods, container platforms, cloud services, and other infrastructure technologies

Benefits and Growth:

  • The opportunity to grow our team and continue to foster a positive culture within a fast-growing company
  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
  • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
  • Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking
  • An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups)
  • Access to Inclusion Talks, our Internal panel discussions
  • Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+

Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.

Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, and may include variable compensation. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition, Datadog offers a wide range of best in class, comprehensive and inclusive employee benefits for this role including healthcare, dental, parental planning, and mental health benefits, a 401(k) plan and match, paid time off, fitness reimbursements, and a discounted employee stock purchase plan.
