System Test Design Lead

We are looking for a hands-on technical engineering leader for our manufacturing team to help bridge manufacturing to engineering organizations. You will have a deep understanding of HW and SW design skills and use them daily to collect and analyze manufacturing data, drive action items based on data (yield, retest, test time) and improve efficiency of the line and quality of the final product. 

Skydio builds complex flying robots and our goal is to ensure high quality and efficiency at our internal and external manufacturing sites. We have developed a robust software platform that models and tracks the manufacturing process, runs and tracks tests on the line, and ultimately ensures the quality and performance of each and every Skydio product made. Your team will design and build manufacturing test hardware and software to meet the demands of a growing hardware portfolio and customer base.

How you'll make an impact:

• NPI leadership role is a new chapter for Skydio  and there may be an opportunity to lead a team 
• Ownership of end to end manufacturing calibration, process and test readiness, design  in-house or 3rd party test instrumentation and manage readiness
• Track and resolve existing and emerging manufacturing issues daily.
• Collect requirements, define specifications and requirements for product
• Collaborate with product development, manufacturing operations and software teams to define and implement manufacturing test plans
• Define key manufacturing timelines and drive internal customers to meat those goals 
• Develop test and process software in our vehicle test framework to enable in-house and 3rd party test instrumentations
• Work with the product development team to identify and incorporate design for test optimizations into our products
• Proactively identify test related issues throughout product build cycles and aim for timely resolution

What makes you a good fit:

• 5+ years leading test development or engineering teams
• 10+ years engineering experience in manufacturing environment 
• Capable of coding in Python is a must
• Enthusiasm for hands-on development of creative solutions to complex problems
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, communication, and multi-functional collaboration skills
• Ability to conduct detailed root cause / failure analysis for manufacturing test and equipment issues
• Proven experience working with test automation in consumer electronics or industrial systems
• Strong electromechanical experience in designing automated test equipment
• You are motivated to work in a dynamic and fast growing company balancing getting things done quickly and working toward long term goals

Compensation Range: The annual base salary range for this position is $170,000 - $220,000*. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. In addition to base salary, Skydio full-time employees are eligible to enroll in our benefit plans and take advantage of a variety of incentives and stipends.
