As a Staff User Experience Researcher you will have the opportunity to shape and drive our research best practices as well as enabling the broader team (engineers, product managers, designers, operations, etc.) to learn and apply research skills to customer challenges across the business. You’ll conduct generative research to explore new opportunities, test concepts as they are being developed, and evaluate products once they’ve rolled out. You’ll partner closely with Product Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers to identify research opportunities where you’ll drive the planning and execution of research plans.

  • Lead critical research across our primary product areas and define the research program for scale
  • Conduct studies across essential product areas, using qualitative and quantitative methods such as ethnographic/field research, diary studies, surveys, user/usability testing, (remote and in-person), working with data, and any other methods you find impactful  that deepen our understanding of the user experience and drive product strategy
  • Prioritize research needs and approaches across multiple workstreams to ensure the team is delivering actionable insights for impact
  • Review, analyze, and communicate strategic insights, and applicable recommendations which guide product decisions and design improvements for users
  • Help cultivate an informed team by advocating for the user with presentations and creative activities
  • Align product with both user and business goals

A Bit About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Have a Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, related field, or equivalent practical experience 8 years of experience in an applied research setting, or similar Experience with research design utilizing various methods (eg, usability studies, contextual inquiry, surveys, etc.). 
  • Have 7+ years of experience with Product organizations, using a variety of research methods, including usability/user testing, surveys, and user interviews

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience leading projects, crafting compelling narratives for cross-functional stakeholders and advocating for the user’s experience  
  • Understand industry best practices, and know how to tailor research methods to Alto user needs
  • Can lead, design, execute, and communicate impactful research in a fast paced product development process and know how to integrate research into product and design roadmaps.
  • Can balance working with urgency and focus with methodological rigor and adapt as needed for the situation.
  • You’ve built or scaled research platforms, systems, or programs at your workplace.
  • Educate stakeholders on UX Research methods and meaning
  • An interest in the pharmacy / healthcare industries
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation and collaboration skills

Additional Physical Job Requirements

  • Read English, comprehend, and follow simple oral and written instructions.  The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.  Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.  Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Frequent repeating motions required to operate a computer that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Sedentary work: Sitting most of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Walking & standing are required occasionally. 

Salary Range: $180,000 - 210,000
