What’s the role?

We’re looking for a Staff Product Manager to lead the machine learning team that’s responsible for Etsy’s international search strategy.

You’ll partner with a dedicated cross-functional team including engineering, applied science, analytics, and research. You’ll develop and deliver a customer-centric product strategy that empowers buyers across the world to find special products available nowhere else. Do you feel motivated by building products to support a broader business strategy while solving complex problems, such as optimizing for showing cross-border vs local listings while improving search relevance? This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Product Management and the base salary range will be 172,000 - 224,000 USD. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What’s this team like at Etsy?

International Search is a critical machine learning team at Etsy that sits within the Search product group. The team is responsible for matching buyers outside of the US with the right items in Etsy’s vast inventory. 

The team drives a significant share of marketplace sales, and is a key player in growing our international buyer base while helping international sellers succeed. Each year, International Search delivers meaningful improvements to results relevance across a number of state of the art systems.

What does the day-to-day look like?

• Lead product strategy and roadmap definition for the team.
• Collaborate across functions (Analytics, Design, Engineering, Research) to identify, prioritize, define, and execute on the right areas that will improve outcomes for customers and drive business impact for Etsy.
• Collaborate within the Search org and more widely across Etsy to drive forward Etsy’s international strategy.
• Contribute to team culture, health, and team success by identifying, advocating for, and taking action on areas of improvement.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

• You have 5+ years of Product Management or comparable experience.
• You have worked with Machine Learning engineers to prioritize, build, evaluate, and launch ML driven product solutions that address customer needs and deliver business impact.
• You are team oriented, collaborative, and committed to facilitating the contribution of diverse perspectives and skills to achieve the best possible outcomes.
• You are deeply customer focused and connect customer needs to business outcomes when finding opportunities for the team.
• You consistently use data and insights to identify the right path forward and make decisions that increase return on our investments.
• You are highly motivated to help the team succeed and work with urgency and creativity to build clarity, resolve blockers, and realize impact.
• You are committed to learning and growing. You are curious, and are willing to give and be receptive to the gift of feedback.
• You communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, peers and executives.
