We are open to hiring this position in San Francisco, CA or Seattle, WA

Our mission at Databricks is to radically simplify the data lifecycle from ingestion, ETL and BI to ML/AI with a unified platform. In this effort, we are replacing the traditional data warehouse architecture with a new architectural pattern, Lakehouse (CIDR 2021 paper), an open platform that unifies data warehousing, advanced analytics, and AI. The Lakehouse architecture addresses several major challenges, including data staleness, reliability, total cost of ownership, data lock-in, and limited use-case support. Delta Lake is at the core of this architecture enabling these differentiators.

As a Product Manager on the Delta team, you will be responsible for defining and driving the vision of the fundamental pilar of the open Lakehouse. You will be focused on understanding the needs of not just data engineers and SQL analysts but also ML practitioners and Data Scientists. Customers want a production ready and highly reliable managed service that  just works “out of the box.” You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of how to store and process data efficiently and quickly. You would be responsible for understanding the needs, identifying the use cases, distilling the requirements, making a case to get features funded, bringing them to market, and post-GA adoption activities. Databricks have assembled a world-class engineering team to build the open Lakehouse on Delta Lake. As a PM, your goal is to help guide and lead this team in achieving this mission. You would be responsible for several first-to-market efforts and direct revenue-generating product lines that will define the future of the lakehouse.

The impact you will have:

  • Drive the vision and roadmap to make Delta the best lakehouse storage format
  • Write product documents such as roadmap big rocks, product requirements, and critical user journeys to build delightful products that drastically simplifies our customers' jobs
  • Bring new products to market from ideation to delivery. Formulate and lead Go-to-Market efforts to make those products successful

What we look for:

  • Proven ability to recognize customer needs, create an encapsulating product vision,  translate requirements to product specifications, drive alignment with stakeholders, build and bring products to market, and drive adoption post-launch
  • Ownership and get-stuff-done attitude
  • Strong bias to ship products by understanding the most critical aspects to make the product successful
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of product management or software development experience
  • Hands-on experience with some of the data analytics products such as Spark, Postgres, MySQL, Oracle Exadata, Teradata, Netezza, Greenplum, Amazon S3, Redshift, Athena, Glue, Glacier, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Google Cloud Storage (GCS), Delta Lake, Data Lakes, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse, Snowflake, Apache Hudi, Apache Iceberg
  • Experience working with successful open source projects
