Please let Github know you found this offer on WeLoveProduct as a way to support us 🫶

GitHub is changing the way the world builds software, and we want you to help build GitHub!

The portfolio of products at GitHub continues to advance. Product telemetry is now not just useful for understanding developer behavior and productivity, but a fundamental currency of our business. Developers find great value in our technology and there is a not only compelling, but critical story to be told that bridges their experience with the cost of their usage. Effective curation of product data to our customers builds trust and yields a more predictable experience, which reinforces the value of our product offerings.

As a Staff Product Manager on the Data team, you will be responsible for creating and executing the vision for enabling customers to realize and maximize product value through data-powered experiences. You will be focused on crafting a curated data experience for our customers, spanning developer productivity through billing transparency. You will be responsible for the ease of secure access to data through thoughtful, well curated APIs, and consistent in-product data visualization experience that offers both historical and forecasted perspectives. Your thought leadership in this space will play a significant role in the upstream structure of product data and metrics, and will have a direct impact on internal data modeling and BI efforts.

In this role, you will work closely with a globally distributed and diverse team of product managers, engineers, designers, support agents, and customer account managers.  You’ll collaborate with your peers to design and develop an approach to delivering a data experience that can scale with a growing suite of products. Collaboration with customers is mission critical as their technical and administrative needs continue to evolve with our revolutionary products.

Responsibilities

Own the product strategy and execution roadmap for your area. You will be responsible for the externally facing curated data experience at GitHub,. This will span all customer personas that interact with us, from the developer to the procurement officer. Delivering capabilities catered to the wide audience requires a strong understanding of product data topology and a clever approach to innovative solutions prioritized across a multiyear roadmap.

Represent the customer. Our customers, both internal and external, are hungry for high quality, insightful data. Through customer research, you will build a deeply empathetic understanding of their needs, assess what is most meaningful, and ruthlessly prioritize the work required to continuously deliver the right critical data experiences.

Collaborate across teams. You will serve in a cross-functional capacity, building bridges between Product service teams, Sales, Support, Customer Success, Billing, Marketing, Communities, Design, and Security centered on radical data transparency with our external customers. As a senior leader, you will mentor and contribute to the growth of your peers and help grow the skillsets of your teammates to be successful in their respective areas. Success in this role will inherently make our cross functional peers successful.

Data-driven decision making. We have a lot of data at GitHub. The growth of our usage-based product portfolio in addition to our core platform offerings creates an ever expanding data landscape. The demand for curated data across all areas is high. Assessing the most acute needs across our internal and external customers coupled with insatiable root cause curiosity will lead to effective data analysis to craft impactful prioritization.

Measure success. Avoid creating solutions no one uses at all costs. Adoption of the services you create is a critical component of this role. These services are all about effective measurement, and we want the output to serve as a force of good for consumers. Keeping obsessive attention to adoption metrics will ensure you are creating the most effective solutions, or change the shape of the work for future success.

Evangelize your product area. Data awareness is a challenging space. In this role, you will be providing highly curated consolidated services to make critical data easier to identify and consume. Through continued cross-functional conversation and collaboration, you will bring clarity to critical business questions and needs.
