The Product Team at Docker is looking for a Staff Product Manager of Billing. Our Billing teamprovides a seamless experience when using and purchasing products across our suite. You will own the user experience in purchasing and billing; and drive the billing product area from system integration to platform enablement that will allow flexible business models and agile pricing experimentation. You will work with internal teams to understand and consider their needs and effectively prioritize based on values and impact your team can drive and deliver. . You will be a key driver in helping Docker reduce the friction for developers using and purchasing our products.

Responsibilities:

  • You own a product area, the long-term vision, the roadmap, the revenue, and the results.

  • You believe in and can articulate succinctly, our customers and their pain points. You empathize and understand the world they live in and the constraints they work through. 

  • You will engage deeply with developers and find amazing solutions that solve today's problems while optimizing for tomorrow's vision.

  • You enjoy building products that are easy to adopt and use. You have a keen design sensibility, and you are always looking for ways to improve the usability of your products. 

  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and will guide product definition, feature prioritization, and scope, in concert with cross functional teams. 

  • You’re a fan of iterative development, working with our customers and cross-functional teams to hypothesize, measure impact, and learn from previous releases to iterate on future roadmap plans.

You should apply if:

  • You have experience building and integrating billing products.

  • You have knowledge across the billing experience from user facing through to Sales and Accounting needs.

  • You have worked with 3rd party billing providers eg Stripe. 

  • You have deep empathy for the needs of developers.

  • You are comfortable interacting with a command-line interface.

  • You have experience building B2C, SaaS or have a background in Public Cloud

  • You have experience working with agile teams.

  • You can break down complex technical problems into small, release-able, user-valuable features.

  • You can explain complex ideas simply.

  • You have effective written, verbal, and visual communication skills.

  • You can analyze data to inform decision making.

  • You have a collaborative approach and ability to work with distributed, cross-functional teams.

  • You have experience running products at various stages of maturity, from legacy to greenfield.

  • You are a doer as well as a strategist. We are small and need all hands on deck.

  • Bonus: you have 7+ years of experience in product management.


What to expect in the first 30 days

  • Being a fully remote workplace, Docker has a focus on keeping teams connected. To that end, your first two weeks will include a calendar with many 1:1 sessions intended to introduce you to your team and others with whom you will interact frequently.

  • By the end of the month you should be familiar with Docker’s values and goals, our leadership, your team, your tools, and where to go for information - everything you need to be effective in your role

  • Build an understanding of Docker Hub and Billing systems and infrastructure.

  • Meet the team along with peers across the business unit and company

  • Work closely with designers, researchers and engineers to get to know our user’s needs and current pain points.

  • Work with your Product Director and team to review and create quarterly goals

  • Understand your product’s roadmap and what data is available to make data driven decisions

  • Begin discovery on what opportunities exist and start making some bets

  • Write a Product direction and identify the next steps to delivering on that strategy


What to expect in the first 90 days

  • With the team you’ll have a Product roadmap setting the direction of the team and the outcomes you’ll achieve 

  • You’ll have developed a good relationship with your team, have become familiar with its routines, and will be comfortable sharing ideas and opinions formed from your depth of experience.

  • You’ll have become familiar with Docker Hub systems with a focus on product direction and strategy to be owned by the Billing team.

  • Actively engage with leadership at Docker, working collaboratively on strategic initiatives.



What to expect in the first year

  • Within your first year you’ll have made significant contributions by guiding the team with clear product goals in billing

  • You’ll have established strong relationships with our stakeholders in Business Operations, Accounting, Finance, and Support, comfortable handling ad-hoc requests and discussing your team’s involvement.

  • In collaboration with your manager, you will have a Career Development Plan that will outline your trajectory beyond your first year.

  • A trusted advisor and strategic partner with Docker’s leadership team, problem-solving issues that arise, and introducing new innovative programs and processes to employees
