At Quilter, we are helping electrical engineers save time and accomplish more by automating the tedious and time-consuming task of designing circuit boards. Our team is composed of experts in electrical engineering, ML/AI, and software development leveraging (and inventing) novel techniques to solve the decades-old problem of automating circuit board design.
Created in 2021, Quilter has been fully remote from the start with team members distributed throughout the US and an unofficial "headquarters" in Los Angeles, CA. No matter where we come from, we're united by a common vision for the future and a core set of values we think will get us there:
Focus on the mission
Demonstrate grit
Never stop learning
Pursue excellence
Quilter is hiring a Staff Product Designer and our first full-time design hire to join our team.
Quilter’s web application is our first and only user interface, tasked with making it fast, easy, and fun for electrical engineers to generate and review circuit boards designed by Quilter’s AI. As Staff Product Designer, you will play a primary role in determining the product UX and UI that best serves the needs of Quilter’s users (electrical engineers) and customers (businesses building electronics products). This is an exciting opportunity to leave your personal mark on an industry-leading AI product.
We’re looking for an experienced generalist designer who is capable of owning and solving complex problems. We want someone who is comfortable conducting user interviews, structuring and distilling information architectures, building high-quality prototypes and visual designs, and delivering clear and thorough design specifications. We are looking for someone with several years of experience working in cross-functional product teams, ideally in early-stage startup environments.
Several years of experience leading and designing applications
Excellent visual, UI, and interaction design skills
Some front-end development experience (ex: can implement basic React components, can style/polish existing components, know how to use git, etc).
Contribute to Quilter’s product strategy
Generate product designs, prototypes, workflows, specifications, visiontypes, etc.
Conduct user research to understand user objectives, emotions, challenges, and opportunities
Invest in internal design systems for our product and website
Work closely with our engineering team to implement and execute your designs
Establish the foundations of Quilter’s design function and best practices
Strong passion for design and design craft
Strong, multi-modal communication skills (written, visual, verbal)
Previous experience working on a technical product, and a demonstrated ability to learn about new technical domains
Designers who have a background in programming or technical design tools
Please note: We are an equal opportunity employer and currently a remote-only company. At this time, we are focused on hiring primarily within the US, with occasional exception to accommodate exceptional talent.
Interesting and challenging work
Competitive salary and equity benefits
Remote work with no commute
Health, dental, and vision insurance
Regular team events and offsites (~2x / year)
Unlimited paid time off
Paid parental leave
