In your role as a staff designer with the Core Experience team, you will be responsible for designing key parts of the user experience for millions of Reddit users. The Core Experience team plays a central role in ensuring that the entire Reddit platform offers a cohesive experience. This role requires a highly empathetic and collaborative UX designer with strong design craft, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of shaping products. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams of designers, researchers, engineers and product managers to shape the future of Reddit.
The Core Experience team's mission is to create simple and modern experiences that appeal to everyone in the world. This includes how users discover, read, watch, and contribute to conversations across Reddit. Your role as a Staff Designer will be instrumental in driving these objectives forward and shaping the core experiences that millions of people that visit Reddit everyday.
What you’ll do
- Lead and influence the direction consuming on Reddit.
- Collaborate with product managers and researchers to establish and deliver a UX strategy that significantly improves the user experience for Reddit.
- Understand the unique needs of a broad range of consumers and translate those to delightful product features that will be successful on Reddit
- Execute at every stage of the design lifecycle from ideation to delivery
- Deliver prescient user insights across diverse areas of focus that are non-obvious and lead to innovative design solutions
- Design innovative ideas that will significantly improve user experience for consuming content and comments on Reddit.
- Build consensus across diverse teams through effective exploration and communication and present to design peers and senior executives
Who you might be
- 8+ years of work experience
- An excellent online portfolio showcasing UX, UI, and visual design work for mobile and web.
- Experience in social or consumer-facing products is a plus
- Strong written and presentation skills as the position requires working closely with partners across the company
- Humble and motivated to ship the best product; you're always thinking about how to improve the experience for the end user.
- Previous relevant experience in understanding how businesses can successfully integrate with consumer platforms is a plus

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission.
