Job Description

We’re looking for a Staff Content Designer to be a craft leader on a multi-disciplinary team responsible for building creative and effective marketing campaigns for our product lines. These products are focused on helping Shopify merchants increase buyer reach and generate demand for their products.

This Staff Content Designer will be responsible for shipping creative projects with cross-functional partners, contributing creative direction and strategy for this product line, as well as collaborating with a team of autonomous, high-performing creatives. Staff Content Designers at Shopify are focused on craft leadership on creative teams. The right candidate will thrive on change and operate on trust, leveraging the diverse perspectives of the people on their team in everything they do. We are looking for someone who is innately curious, continuously striving for improvement, and motivated to do better and make better.

We are looking for a crafter who can contribute to a highly creative team of collaborators, while always having a business-first mindset about creative work. This crafter should have a track record of delivering dynamic, effective, and creative work.  

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and create content for marketing channels, including social media, email campaigns, and landing pages.
  • Leverage strategic insights to plan projects that align to audience goals as well as business needs.
  • Coordinate with marketing teams to execute campaigns, set timelines, and analyze performance.
  • Contributing to a creative content craft for the Demand product line.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary creatives, while contributing to an inclusive and productive team culture.
  • Mentoring by sharing your knowledge and expertise with junior content designers and supporting a culture of innovation and learning.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional partners to ensure your projects are coordinated and aligned with Shopify's overall goals and messaging.
  • Advocating for great creative work as well as the needs of the team with senior leadership.
  • Acting as a design leader by mentoring junior content designers, establishing design excellence, and advocating for better design practices.
  • Ensuring that your team ships exceptionally high quality creative on all projects.
  • Manage timelines, project statuses, and team resources to ensure quality work is shipped on time.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience as a creative contributor, with a portfolio that showcases highly-impactful work. 
  • Past experience contributing to a multidisciplinary team, including design and content.
  • The technical experience to understand strategic details marketing and product UX with product designers and product managers.
  • Passionate about creative storytelling with a solid understanding of marketing principles, and business strategy.
  • Proven experience marketing a product through both audience-first storytelling, as well as lower funnel conversion tactics. 
  • Knowledge and familiarity with a data-informed approach to design, you’ve used tools and resources needed to measure success of design decisions (A/B testing tools, Google Analytics, etc.).
  • The ability to prioritize simultaneous project requests from various teams in a fast-paced environment.
