About Quizlet:

Inspired by our belief that anyone can learn anything and powered by our own curiosity, we build the smartest tools we can imagine to help students learn.

Quizlet is the popular, global learning platform and app that millions of students, teachers and everyday people use to study any subject imaginable for school, work or as part of their personal interests -- including two-thirds of high school students and half of all college students in the US. Combining cognitive science and machine learning, Quizlet guides students through adaptive study activities to confidently reach their learning goals. We’re on track to become the undisputed leader in user-generated learning content and engagement, at the scale of YouTube.

Valued at $1 billion, Quizlet has raised over $60 million in venture capital from investors including Icon Ventures, Union Square Ventures, General Atlantic, Costanoa Ventures, Owl Ventures, and Altos Ventures.

To serve our global community of learners, our teams tackle lofty technical challenges and design for use cases across cultures and languages. We work hard, act like owners, and collaborate every chance we get. We’re energized by the potential to power more learners through multiple approaches and various tools.

About the Team:

Quizlet’s marketing team is responsible for driving brand awareness, user engagement, subscription, and ads growth. This role will report to the Director of Product Marketing and it will be highly cross-functional.

About the Role:

As a Sr. PMM focused on Growth at Quizlet, you’ll be responsible for driving user growth and engagement through Teachers on our platform. Teachers are an important part of Quizlet’s overall ecosystem, as they help onboard middle school and high school students. You’ll approach marketing to this audience with a data-driven mindset and a high degree of user empathy to ensure we land on the best approaches to “teach the teachers” about all that Quizlet can do.

On a daily basis, you’ll partner with product management, design, engineering, product analytics, lifecycle marketing, and user research team members to develop strategies to ensure that every teacher knows how to leverage Quizlet’s unique advantages to drive student engagement and academic success.

As the product marketer tasked with driving gains in user acquisition and engagement, you’ll also lead research efforts to help us position ourselves against the competition and to uncover the most significant barriers to student and teacher adoption. You will use insights gathered to make the case for high-impact tests and product experiences. On the go-to-market side, you’ll craft campaign strategies and recommend the right targeting, channels, timing, and messaging. As you test and learn, you’ll help us establish playbooks for scaling the impact of winning initiatives.

As an excellent communicator, you will be confident in sharing your learnings and proposals in well-synthesized decks and documents. You will thrive in this role if you can break down your thinking, solicit direct feedback, and bring a large group of stakeholders along for the ride. You are the kind of person who is comfortable working across teams to connect the dots.

We’re looking for a candidate who can make decisions quickly and who can interpret and share results in a way that helps move our overall business understanding forward. While this is not directly a people management role, we’re looking for a strong leader who is comfortable advising peers across the organization.

This is a hybrid role based out of our San Francisco, CA office.

In this role, you will:

  • Build and test strategies to drive product adoption and user understanding
  • Influence product, design, and analytics partners to make key improvements that will improve the core user experience
  • Conduct research to identify barriers to adoption and craft synthesis decks that illuminate the top insights and recommendations
  • Deeply understand our business, including the growth levers across our free and paid product so that you can advocate effectively for teachers and younger students across the organization
  • Develop our teacher and U18 lifecycle and onsite marketing strategies to make sure teachers are empowered to take full advantage of Quizlet’s capabilities
  • Partner with product management, product analytics, product design, and growth marketing teams to analyze trends in our data, build out user journeys, and prioritize initiatives accordingly
  • Draft, test, and refine product messaging. You’ll be a strong writer and able to think through the nuances of positioning and messaging for teachers
  • Work with the Teacher Education Manager at Quizlet to build a strong network of teacher advocates and educators who can inspire other teachers
  • Run our annual virtual conference for teachers, giving this audience a window into upcoming product launches and sharing tips and tricks that inspire them to use Quizlet in new ways

What you bring to the table:

  • 4-10 years experience in a product marketing role at a consumer-facing company
  • 3+ years of experience working directly with product managers on a core product offering
  • Strong leadership qualities with a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Excellent analytical skills with a “test and learn” mindset
  • Experience driving product launches and continued product adoption GTM strategy
  • Data-first orientation combined with the curiosity to ask sophisticated questions of the data and of analysts
  • Decisiveness and proactive communication skills regarding progress and approach
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and communication skills with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Comfort with ambiguity, uncertainty, and a rapidly evolving business landscape
  • Scaling mindset with a good understanding of the metrics product and marketing teams tend to evaluate investment opportunities and make tradeoffs
  • Confidence in creative problem solving with strong interpersonal skills
  • Market research skills including surveys, interviews, and competitive intelligence
  • Demonstrated empathy and nuance when it comes to understanding customers from different backgrounds from yourself

Bonus points if you have:

  • Familiarity with the ed tech landscape and/or Gen Z consumers
  • Experience working within a freemium consumer subscriptions business
  • Some background in both growth and core product marketing
  • Experience driving cross-selling and onsite marketing campaigns

  • Experience developing strong customer education marketing
  • Past experience with any kind of teaching
